Is that what upset you? You're Russian? Look, for my money, Dodger is one of the dodgiest in the bunch from 2012, no question.

But if I am going to assign a country name as a collective noun to a team of multi-national riders, it will be the country of the team, not their knicks manufacturer, or their bike maker, or blah blah blah.

It's nothing personal, it's purely expedient.

Simply trying to give you a hint that the Russian part of the Katusha team could be less juiced than the rest in '12. The lack of "Russian" results on the team was very likely the main reason Ekimov replaced Holzer.

While there's little doubt some riders are on a program on Katusha, it looks to me like they are individual, i.e. very similar operation as the majority of the peloton these days.

My nationality matters little in this case.

Sure, but EPO and blood doping will likely make some of these less talented Russian riders competitive at some level. None of them were competitive in '12.

There were a few riders making all the rest look very untalented / non-competitive in 2012. This then leads some people to the conclusion that the other riders or even the entire field must be weak.

According to Lequipe it was Menchov's presence on the team that costs them.

Bit weird imo.

Supposedly Menchov and several other Katusha riders are heavily implicated in Mantova. Although on that note why wouldn't the UCI revoke Lampre's license too.

It is a strange one. I guess the Russians are upset that J-Rod didn't win a GT this year after the big 'donation' the UCI got for a new blood testing machine.

Well there was always the Cossack, who was out of action last year for his little EPO bust, though of course nobody from the team ever helped him at all. Look at the Katusha squad list, though. A lot of them are going to find it hard to get a ride on another ProTour team, let alone get leadership opportunities. There's also the fact that Purito was having a ridiculously good season. Probably a lot more effort expended on the Giro and Vuelta by the Katusha squad than they were expecting.

Important mention: Since 2004, the peloton reached the base of Mur de Huy in compact formation.

I like Katusha. They're doping like it's the 90's, and they aren't even trying to hide it. No hypocrisy about being a clean team, just a full on old time doping team. You got to give them credit for that.
