Deep Orbit,

I have a program for you to try.
It would be free, but I would want to get some results and feedback in return.

hey mate

im a kilo rider and have started to specialise just for this event over the last few months. i am doing lots of moto accelerations on bigger gears and lots of longer efforts eg (375m moto accs instead of 250m) lactic 500s help lots (84" flat out 500) about 6 of them with 10 mins rest between help. doing starts once a week help also, 3x4 sets with (1/4 lap first 3 then 1/2 - 3/4 lap for 4th effort)

longer road rides also help to build base. i think its also a very individual kind of training so what works for me and others may not work for you. just keep that in mind, but have an open mind and try new things as sometimes you can find some excellent training efforts by experimentation.

any idea what kind of gear that your riding/going to ride for the kilo?

I'll be riding a 90 inch gear. I tried it last year and it was the best compromise between starting strong and finishing with some speed. I will be experimenting with a 92 to see if that improves anything.

interesting gear, not many people in the elite level use that kind of gear, they edge more toward to the 98 - 100 even higher, depending on the rider style. i myself use 96 and rode this gear all season for the kilo and rode a 1.03.9 at youth olympics earlier in the year. i will be going bigger by the time junior worlds comes around though. the smaller gears arent as popular as have been in previous years people like chris hoy riding over 100 in the sprints. i read an article where he said he rode 98 for the kilo so interesting bit of info there

since I am not an "elite" rider there is no way I can push a 98. I will however test on a 94 and perhaps a 96. My 200 meter gear is a 94 and with that I can do a 12.3. I have been working hard so I think you're convincing me to go bigger. Definitely worth testing.
