There was a post edited cause the picture was too large what the **** is that ?

I have been set up to bail out since the BOB closing. Since BOB's closing I have it set up that I can bail out here in about 8 clicks of the mouse

But that was Susan too. She could have resized the picture, but she lives to moderate by deletion. Alpe did a resize last week. Honestly, I don't have a problem with moderated resize. Deletion instead of resize is a problem though, and I agree it is ridiculous considering that mods can resize at will.

But don't leave. I am only a few clicks from leaving too, but this thread keeps that from happening. I love this thread.

NOTE: Expect to get your inbox flooded with requests that you stop posting here so that I will leave...especially from a couple of the mods.

I sincerely apologise for breaking this thread with my controversial post containing the picture and spiel about zombie jesus earlier this week. It was an impulsive post made with no thought towards other members religeous persuasions :(

It is with great humilty that I throw myself at the feet of TFF and other forum members of the christian faith and ask for forgiveness for being a smartar$e!

PLEASE DON'T GO KREBS!!!

Please allow me to apologize to you because my feelings are so fragile that I cannot stand a post from another who has different beliefs than do I. It was an impulsive reaction, and I regret it. This is the place on this forum that should contain the most free thought. I violated that dynamic by protesting.

and to reiterate:

PLEASE DON'T GO KREBS!!!

One less click now eh:D

Mate you were involved in a proper discussion about it and the matter was resolved fairly.

I joined this forum mainly because this thread cheered me right up during my recovery from an operation and I don't want to see one of the most important cogs leaving.

Dont Go Krebs!

Suppose you own stock in a company that you believe has acted immorally. You want to sell the stock, but is this morally permissible? If owning the stock is wrong, then selling it to another person amounts to abetting an immoral act. The buyer might not feel the stock is tainted, but you do.

Even just renouncing ownership amounts to redistributing the stock’s value among the other stockholders, which increases their moral culpability. Is principled divestiture possible?

For the record, I only flagged the image making light of Jesus hanging on the cross. I found it way over the line. You wouldn't make light of 9/11 and then complain about the lack of sense of humor, would you? Some things are sacred. I wrongly assumed that most children knew that.

This medieval view, apparently adopted here, makes this forum blow. I haven't been in here much recently, but this thread is the one I really did check out, and I think I read every single post in it. Sad to see it go, but also understandable. Krebs, could you please leave a link to your new 'workplace'?

I am a Christian, and while I flagged a post depicting Christ in an unflattering manner, I was wrong to do so. As Krebs pointed out, if your faith is so shallow that you believe ideas contrary to your own should be banished, then your faith is the issue and not the idea you oppose.

Is it pleasant for me to see a depiction of Christ produced in an offensive manner? Yes. Does that depiction change anything about my faith? No. Does my desired banishment of that depiction change the beliefs of the person who posted it? No. Christ said to love your enemies (if you see people like that as enemies, I don't. They are just neighbors who believe differently, who Christ also said to love). He did not say to banish their ideas from being expressed and then love them.

Sorry, but nobody has any business flagging anything in here unless it's NSFW (not safe for work). The way things work here, if somebody flags something and says "I'm offended", the mods pretty much have to delete it. The problem is, this is the Free Form / Chaos thread. If everybody comes into such a thread and flags stuff that offends them, a lot of stuff gets deleted. And that has a chilling effect on the participants. In other words, it defeats the spirit and the purpose of the thread. And what is that spirit? Free speech, fun, diversity of outlook.

If you have a particular set of beliefs and you already know you're pretty thin-skinned about it, the thing to do is to avoid places where anything goes. I mean, what do you think you're going to find in a place like that? Stuff that upsets you, right? So why go there and ruin it for everyone else?

Personally, I think you lost your objectivity on this matter by daring other users (more specifically pointed at my direction) to post a smiling stick figure of Prophet Mohammad.

I then checked the posts in the moderators thread as this is the topic of discussion there and I found this-

I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. I came here primarily to engage in cycling related discussion. Sadly, because the great majority of the posters here seem to embrace only one side of the political and theological spectrum, I feel compelled to engage them. The lack of civility and outright vitriol that I have encountered because of my deeply held personal views over the last couple of days has been astounding. Having said that, I wouldn't mind if the forum was 100% cycling related.

One's opinion to oneself is the best way to go about. I doubt you have swayed any opinions on the forum or have had your opinions swayed by others here. If you wanted it to be 100% cycling related, then all the other sections of the forum are open for you. It would also help any user to be a bit thick skinned. One can't expect to go into a stand up comedy act and expect political correctness. Make fun of Hinduism all you want, I would be least bothered by it.

Now, a thread which was fun feels rubbish.

PS: Zam, it's there somewhere in this thread but got lost in yesterday's chaos. I saw the photo and shuddered, poor fella doesn't have insurance does he?

I am inclined to split this discussion off from the thread itself, and link to it. At the same time, I am not trying to kill this fall-out discussion either. Any (quick) thoughts?

Yeah I do. since there is no off topic discussion in the freeform and chaos thread let it roll here. no use polluting anywhere else.

I've never donned my minsters hat in here before but let me leave you with this to think of before you post

Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Hey guys other than my post this morning I don't think I have ever had a post edited or deleted in over 6000 posts. Susan is correct this in not a free for all.
All forum guidelines apply
I have reported posts before but only because they violated forum guidelines (language or too much skin) in either this thread or BOB but only to get things removed before some kind of fallout. never have I reported anything because I found it objectionable.

I guess (I know) I don't look at things like other people. When confronted with "zombie jesus" I thought what would cause some one to feel that way about my religion and what actions of mine through example (not confrontation)could show a more positive side.
