Démare is a friendly, likeable guy who accepts defeat while Groenewegen is an arrogant *** when he doesn't win. Furthermore Démare raced y'day and today and was in the break. Groenewegen had no wheel in front of him for 50 metres and wins...sadly. :(

If this is about that TdF stage I agree with Jos, but I would've also thrown out bouhanni then since he was swerving aswell. Also making swerving during a sprint doesn't make you an ***.

I dont think Jos said Demare is an *** just because he swerved

Demare certainly stepped up from being an overrated mediocre sprinter with a junior title and a lucky Milan-San Remo victory to one of the top rockets in the field last year. Especially his victories at P-N and the Tour were impressive. So they way Groenenwegen outsprinted him with sheer power was absolutely top notch!

Below mediocre opening weekend. Its a little disappointing - hoping GW and especially E-3 will deliver as always! The latter is my definite favourite apart from de Ronde, obviously.
Relax. We are only 6 days from the race that is not even classic, but it will deliver to sure.
Sagan, GVA, Stybi, (Van Marcke) on one side, Valverde, Kwiatko, Moscon on the other.

...because he's French :) ? It would not be the first time that a rider or a poster on this forum expresses such a feeling. I'll leave it at that. GVA rode on sidewalks, deafening silence. Sagan gets away with stupid childish stuff. Moscon may get away with what I called (attempted) murder. Cavendish?...hypocrites...

There's an interesting job interview technique: inviting the applicant for coffee or lunch, see his/her interaction with the waiter/waitress. Polite or arrogant? For what it's worth, Demare passed that one with flying colors in Richmond. The hotel restaurant staff still remembers him.

After that, on the bike, particularly for a sprinter, you have to be cut-throat. It's not a choir boy activity. He's not nice like Pinot, who should have closed the door, didn't, and got beat by Montaguti in Trentino last year. Demare is a sprinter. Quick reactions, instinct, at a very rate of speed. All sprinters can be perceived as AHoles by a non-sprinter or a sofa-riding-expert.

Demare just started his season, but it doesn't take away the big performance and the win by Groenenwegen. I don't particularly care for him, but I give him the respect and credit That he's due... and wish we all had this outlook on things instead of...don't get me started...

Staubsauger summed it up.

Addendum:

For the point that all sprinters can be perceived as AHoles, that was my point when Sagan was DQed, when many were trying to blame someone (Sagan, Cavendish, then Demare -as in why not him too?) or something, including a piece of fruit :D. It was a sprint. Things happen in sprints.

In my racing days, I was the nice guy, I blamed the AHoles who cut my line, who took stupid chances...and won. I didn't get it. I don't know how many races I raced, I had 20+ top-10, never won. I was too soft  . Sprinters are AHoles. That's how they win. And they are willing to put their life on the line...I wasn't. Looking back, good for them.

For the comments about the beginning of the one-day racing season being underwhelming, if all you want is Sagan vs. GVA, you're not cycling fans. Yesterday and today we had tough races and deserving winners.

I am pretty relaxed, thanks! Are you disputing it was a boring Omloop?

It was a bit of a rhetorical question. They worked with four or five guys in front for the last 20 kilometers and managed to bring exactly 0 riders into the top 10.
They tried to form echelons and destroy the peloton, knowing they had no realible options for the sprint. Nothing wrong about it.

Agree with Netserk here, fine edition. Omloop was the letdown.
