Bagioli to finish top 5. He said that Sunday he was too far behind when the group got away. A nice result here and Sunday will be the whole team working for Remco (his words, not mine).
Hope he can fight for the win tomorrow!

There's going to be some positioning game, if Pog doesn't get bottled up on one side and the move comes from the other side, there's only one outcome. Me sayin'...

I'm very curious to see what my chouchou Gaudu will do and Neilson Powless needs to be a presence, take a shot. I'll watch these two.

Mas could also be a sleeper pick. Bad track record but he was showing last year he started having a kick at the end of climbs and steep sections.
Bad track record? Lol, I'm just gonna let you figure this one out on your own.

How is he on steep walls like Huy actually? Can't remember seeing him up front on races / stages like this.
8th on the wall in Itzulia, which was harder. Third in Cullera (1.9k at 8.7%) in the 2021 Vuelta. As for this race, he’s only done it in his neopro season when he came a respectable 19th, and he’s clearly a better rider now.

Here it is, all figured out for you: Valverde ;)
Mas was with Valverde for two editions. Others have also been able to go for their own results as well in the past with Valverde and didn’t have the next in line tag like Mas had. Mas also didn’t show any quick accelerations until last year that you’d need to win FW.

Fleche Wallone has always been Valverde's race. Come on, nobody on Movistar where ever allowed to go for their own success.
And Mas did a pretty good job at Amasa-Villabona..

If Pogacar can start the Mur in a good position you would expect him to win. He was absent in the year he won LBL, so those previous results don't say that much. He should go full from the bottom, preferably launched by a teammate.

Who are the other candidates? One group are GT riders like Mas, Gaudu. Landa, Hindley, Bardet and Lutsenko, but they probably miss the explosiveness for a steep 1 km climb. Then there are the more explosive climbers, like Pidcock, Healy, Higuita, Ciccone and Ulissi. One of them could take it if the Slovenian has an off-day.

Soudal-QuickStep should send Van Wilder in a break, trying to avoid the unavoidable.

I think Pidcock could win this edition of FW, couldn’t he? I cheer for the man, because he‘s a good guy.

FW was always Albasini‘s race. I was repeatedly surprised. You see skinny guys here, guys with hard looking muscle flesh. Then came Albasini, with softer muscle, softer legs, and these legs really created fireworks. I was always happy for him. He nearly won the race, and had super good results there.

Fleche Wallonne IMHO is one of the best races of the year. So I‘m looking forward to it, today… :)

I will go with Enric Mas for the win as he actually dropped Pogačar on Giro dell'Emilia last year in a relatively similar climb.
Movistar also has Aranburu, who was 2nd behind Alaphilippe when they finished on the Mur in Tour de Wallonie last year. Two very different riders, but may very well end up in about the same range.

Mas winning is starting to make a lot of sense. He didn't race Amstel either right?

San Luca is harder, longer, and they do it 5 times in short laps. It's a climbers race. Fleche is a mix between climbers and puncheurs. Not that he hasn't got a chance though...
