Lack of Cycling Podcasts

I find it bizarre that for such a big sport there is a serious lack of content compared to Football or Cricket.

The Cycling Podcast have the undisputed title as best cycling podcast, Velocast are excellent but don't have any free content. Cyclingnews occasionally puts an episode out but they aren't regular enough.

Which other ones do people listen to on professional cycling?

I'd always wanted to start a podcast and got round to it this week, with our 1st episode:
https://www.mixcloud.com/cyclingramble/cycling-rambles-debut-show/

But I am always wanting more content and think cycling is a big open market which could use more opinion based shows rather than forums. GCN would make a good podcast??

I merged this with the thread in the general section, and deleted the last post because it was the exact same as the OP. I think this can stay here during the off season.

I know it isn't podcasts, but for the nerds out there, Steven Even is a must-subscribe-to Youtuber. He has recently uploaded Giros from about 1997-2004 and just yesterday first part of 2005 (usually 3 parts consisting of 2 hours each).

Besides the telegraph cycling podcast and the cyclingnews podcast, there is also :

- the cycling central podcast from the gys of SBShttps://soundcloud.com/cycling-central

- the velonews podcast (their first) http://velonews.competitor.com/category/podcast, they do also a mini video podcast each week

- cycling tips podcasts from time to time are interesting https://soundcloud.com/cyclingtips-blogg

The cycling central podcast is just awful! They get so much stuff wrong and have their heads in the sand regarding the "clinic" side of the sport.

The Flammecast podcast is pretty good, it has John Galloway who is one half of the Velocast and a guy named Derek Troy, not as formal as some podcasts but entertaining and not shy on a an opinion or two https://awesound.com/@wjohngalloway/playlist/flammecast

Maybe it's not the most legit an serious podcast out there, but I really like the Speed Metal Cycling Podcast.
https://www.acast.com/speedmetalcycling
One of the guys is also running the really interesting Alps & Andes website, if you're interested in Colombian cycling (it's the main focus of the website and their best articles a probably english interviews with Colombian cyclists or other articles about cycling in Colombia) you should check it out.

Hi there

I listened and not bad ...except 3 points

Talking a bit too quickly ....English is my first lanaiage and I found it fast

Some of the pronunciations quite off ....like Vuelta or Rodriguiz

Finally need to ensure not too UK/SKY centric .... and helps if you just don't agree with each other all the time

+1

If you only want to hear about cycling be aware, these guys digress A LOT (though their digression are always pretty funny, about popculture, growing up in Colombia or, of course, metal), but they are also very knowledgeable about cycling, Colombian cycling especially as mentioned (3 of the 4 hosts are Colombian). They recently added a fourth host, Natalia, as an expert on women's cycling.
And, what's best, they make fun of the whole cycling world and point out all the silliness inherent in the sport.

The guy who did How The Race Was Won. All he does is podcasts these days.

It's a good podcast. Cosmo Catalono and Dane Cash I believe, called The Recon Ride. It is a preview show before the major races (and during, in the case of grand tours).

They have sharp senses for the sport. I do wish they had some sort of post-race analysis, as How the Race Was Won was some of the best analysis of any sport I've seen, in terms of the way deep analysis was done in a concise and entertaining way.

I had a listen to the velonews podcast and it's really gd as you'd expect from those guys!! I love Caley, he's one of my favourite journalists!

Emulating the standards set by , The cycling Podcast, Velocast &Velonews is difficult! Those guys all being professional journalists or podcasters.

But we've just released our 2nd episode. We welcome any feedback and criticism.
If u like it give us a follow @cyclingramble to stay tuned!

I listened to the podcast. I think it's generally good but for my liking you talk too much about British cyclists. I know you are British so I understand that this is the country you are most interested in, but I would like to hear about some other things too. (For example you said you want to talk about the tdf and giro routes but at the end only talked about how the routes suit Froome) Still this isn't really criticism, after all you should talk about what you are interested in, it's just not something I'm overly interested in.

We'll take it on board thanks! 25 minutes on the Italian continental scene coming up ;)

I also like the SpeedMetal Cycling podcast. As others have mentioned, it's not terribly serious 100% of the time but the off topic stuff is entertaining and I like that they're just regular guys and not trying to act like they're experts, though they are knowledgeable, particularly about Colombian riders. The Recon Ride is pretty good too, but it can be a bit dry and pretty much just previews big races so you're never sure when they'll have an episode.

Honestly most of the podcasts out there just mimic the stuff we talk about here so if you're a regular forumite you don't learn much of anything new. I guess that's why I like the SpeedMetal podcast the best. Very entertaining.

Right. So I'm gonna clarify here. You can post links to your own content, only in case there is no intent to profit from your site. Otherwise it falls under spam and it will be removed. Your tumblr page had a link to a webshop, so I removed it.

There's one by the Orica domestique, Mitch Docker called 'life in the peloton' available at iTunes.

It's not bad, pretty Orica centric (but that's forgivable I suppose)....you get a pretty detailed insight into certain aspects of being a pro, which is worthwhile.

It's a good series of interviews - Did a ripper with Graham Watson photographer extraordinaire.
