Froome doesn't want to leave any illusions concerning the tour winner and is going to try to attack PSM-style. though, him having now better conditions post-giro than last year without having ridden the giro is absolutely unbelievable. all other teams are looking like schoolboys compared to Sky.
I think that's unlikely. He knows how costly those big attacks can be, which is why he has done precisely one in the past three years, and that only when he really really had to.

Sky will try to choke the race like yesterday. Whether Quintana or Nibali has a better day remains to be seen. Martin will attack of course and maybe drag Froome or Thomas with him. Two more MTFs after this one and one is a short stage. If the non Sky team leaders are going to do anything it has to happen soon. Dumoulin tried yesterday but might pay for that effort. It's really up to Nibali and Quintana now whether anyone is going to mount a challenge or try to. Dumoulin can afford to be a bit more selective with his efforts but still looks good.

After today with Valverde sacrificing himself for no good reason, I'd expect to see him try to go in some breaks and go stage hunting.

I actually expect him to go right from the bottom of Alpe d'Huez. He has nothing to loose, he may be used as a springboard for Quintana/Landa if they have legs (questionable), and he usually responds very well after a bad day.

I don't think SKY will be too bothered about Valverde going up the road. They know he won't be much used to Quintana if he bridges to him. If Quintana does do anything, SKY will follow. Landa i think will still be struggling with a bad back like yesterday and may just try and stay within range to limit his losses and try another day.

It will be interesting to see how he fares as the race progresses.

Does coming in "undercooked" mean he is peaking for Week 3 (like the Giro)?
Or will the Giro fatigue slowly start creeping into his legs so he needs to go full Alien on Alpe and try to manage his time losses later?

After yesterday, there isn't much randomness left to influence the conclusion of the Tour. Absent that, one of the two Sky guys will win. I am not sure that outcome will be determined by pure skill or by team strategy.

This is on paper a good stage for Nibali. If he's not among the best today, he has no shot to win the whole thing.

Sky will try to destroy the opposition, I think. They don't want to leave an open door for a third week ambush. G especially will want to gain as much as he can, knowing a bad day can still happen.

Re: Le Tour '18 stage 12: Bourg-Saint-Maurice > Alpe d'Huez

This one is a stage for a rider with severe astmatic problems, who will have respiratory issues and has to take more puffs than usual. Exclude those who will not forget to rehydrate.

I fear we are about to witness a PSM or Ax-3-Domaines - like stage today... Froome needs to get a minute and a half gap to Thomas (I fully believe he wants yellow and the stage today). I am afraid to think what kind of gaps that means to the other "Orca-less" riders...

Have Sky got Kim's running bodyguards maybe? :D

froome will win and i expect sub 41 minutes time because A, its an iconic climb and B, he has to drop Thomas somehow and for that he cannot wait for last few kms
Sub 41 is nothing.

Climbing times are fast this year, I really don't see how the fastest time doesn't go sub 40.
