Complicated outcome, but maybe they should half the time gaps.

In Formula 1 if a race doesn't reach it's conclusion but has completed a significant percentage of it, teams are awarded half of the points on offer.

So half everyone's total time over the l'Iseran?

It'll never happen, but seems a sensible compromise.
Cycling isnt F1, thats seems like a horrible idea tbh.
Better than annulling times from the stage altogether, imo.

Is this clown Prudhomme finally gonna get fired for being a disgrace to cycling now? How many more farces need to happen before he finally has to take his hat?

Certainly he could've found out the road is unpassable 15 minutes earlier and communicate it in time!
I’m sure you would’ve managed better, brains.
Zomegnan got fired for a similar situation regarding Monte Crostis! Additionally this isn't the first incident caused by Prudhomme's ineptitude. He arguably has ruined the whole Tour de France during his regency, compared to the days of LeBlanc! This isn't even up for discussion IMHO. Prudhomme finally has to leave for what he has made out of your beloved race, a legendary part of French culture!
100% correct. He should step aside now. It's such a poorly managed situation, even if he didn't already have plenty of form for ineptitude. The biggest cycling race in the world, reaching it's climax, and literally all of the riders - even the ones who may have been 'helped' by the decision seem unhappy with it and the way it was communicated.
Agreed, it seems unlikely that the landslide just happened at that point along with all the other stuff. If that was the case its horrible not to communicate that out in time instead of trying to win a fight that couldnt be won furhter down the road.

Fel very sorry for Thomas ,SK,Uran, & Alaphillipe as there was still options for them on the final climb and descent

Dont feel for S Yates as 2 stage wins is enough

Even Bernal ..he could have extended his lead ..but now if he wins its tainted

But had to stop the race

How is it tainted, none of them have been climbing as good as him in the last week.

Isn't it? Oh, that's where I've been going wrong.

Whats up with it? Bernal gains 22 seconds instead of 45 or whatever it's going to be. He doesn't get the complete gains he had because the stage wasn't completed.

We've no idea how Thomas, Kruiswijk and Buchmann were planning to race. They may have let Bernal get the gap he had. GC contenders race a whole stage, not bits of it. At least they should.

The freak weather has sadly ruined what what shaping up to be a great finish.

If Bernal drops them all again tomorrow, then that will at least confirm how much stronger he was than the rest, without the ‘what if?’ tag.

Thats why to take the times on Iseran as originally reported

Agreed. He keeps putting time into the rest of them on the climbs and will (or would have - he may be able to ride defensively) do the same tomorrow.

I don't see a what if in regards to Bernal whatsoever. He was the strongest today and he's been the strongest consistently imo.

"As far as I'm aware, there was no electronic timing atop the Iseran, and so the commissaires will likely have to pick through race footage to decipher the time gaps at the top. We might be waiting a while longer for the stage results and new GC to be published..."
This from the CN commentary feed. What the hell?

That means Alaf stays in yellow which would smell of incredible bias

Just cant make such a rule up. Iseran is the place where you take the time

If there is a stage tomorrow.

Just annul the stage. They can measure the time gaps for how many riders? 10? 15?

This is all very unfortunate. Whatever the outcome it seems to me that the winner will most likely be an asterisked one.

I'm glad everyone's safe but this really shouldn't have happened. You can't control the weather but a big risk was taken (to not call it sooner) that has, in my view at least, spoiled the whole race.
