can't cheer me up with that. Who gives a **** about the vuelta.
Whole year he works for the tour, tons of altitude camps, recon... All for nothing because the ****ing first week crashes.

Poor gesink, poor wiggins, poor horner etc

Remember 2006 with Periero who they gave him 29 minutes back because everyone assumed he would lose that time in the Alps... This is the example they see. Vino has podium and finish 5th, so its kinda like a respect factor involved.

There's quite a difference between giving up 29 minutes or giving about 2 minutes. While Vino is quite a rider still anything less then 5 minutes or so will keep him harmless for the podium.

If all the "big names" who've crashed in the first week of the Tour go for it + Contador and whoever concentrated on the Vuelta in the first place it could be a great race.
