LOL. Armstrong on the eve of winning three, so LeMond calls him out. Froome on the eve of winning three, so LeMond calls him out. That b1tch just doesn't like anyone stealing his spotlight--at least not English speakers who talk to the Engish speaking press; French, Spanish, and Belgians are a-okay, no matter how much they doped.

Because 30 years on, Lemond's legacy is threatened by Chris "Bilharzia" Froome...

LeMond's legacy as a hypocrite certainly is not under threat. No worries for him there. After he is through with his "conscious of the peloton" act, he can go back to cavorting with Indurain, Hinault, and Merkcx.

Froome was 26-ish when he finally had his program sorted out.
Lemond had it figured out as a junior already.

The unfortunate flipside of that coin is that Lemond's carreer plummeted a bit earlier than expected.
Whereas Froome is still at his peak.

The timing of Lemond calling b*****it on sky is peculiar. It has long been there for all to see. However, no matter what his motives, he has at least called them out over it which is more than can be said for the majority of other tv commentators, journalists and pundits. Yes, Lemond has not been consistent in calling people out but at least he has the cajones to have done so. Now lets see if any journalists will have the guts to put Lemond's comments to Brailsford and sky at the next press conference/party political broadcast.

He probably doesn't pass the hypocrisy test here but let's face it - his accusations are most likely accurate.

What accusations ?

"What annoys me is to hear certain trainers say it’s all science fiction, which is disinformation."

Trainers don't say it's all science fiction. Was the interview in French ? The translation makes no sense.

Irony, Lemond thinks he is the only guy with a high V02 Max and lactic threshold on the planet, so he cast stones at everybody else claiming it is impossible anyone can be as great as he?

He really sounds like a moron when he speaks often on TV as well.

Sadly no one did or if they did it was not reported.

Steve Tilford's opinion is that LeMond is an exceptional natural talent. How did you feel when you raced against LeMond?

Tilford was a client of Lemond's father in law, immunologist David Morris.
I think it's fair to say Tilford's opinion is potentially biased.

That said, it's not really controversial that Lemond was a very talented athlete.
Whether he was an exceptional natural talent, or rather an exceptional responder, or maybe both (they're not mutually exclusive, nota bene), that's up for debate, and it's a question that will probably never be resolved.

Tilford is pretty decent on anti doping. Called Mr Snakeoil himself JV out a few times. But Tilford has a big white elephant and that is his wife Trudi is a soigneur for BMC. He wont mention BMC or talk about their doping.

Indeed his stuff on JV was like a breath of fresh air.
But for some reason whenever he talks about Lemond it's just platitudes and sweeping statements.
Maybe somebody knows more about his ties to Lemond and Lemond's father in law?

btw, I didn't know about his wife. Interesting.
That sort of links him to Eric Heiden, who again is of course linked to the Lemond/Hampsten/Bauer crew that Tilford somehow seems to be rather protective of.

I think another elephant in Tilford's room might be his own past doping (hinted at by DamianoMachiavelli upthread).

Tilford rode on the same team (La vie Claire) as Bauer/Hampsten/Hinault/LeMond in europe for a year maybe 2.

I admire his attitude however he's opening himself up to a world of hurt.
First of all Sky are powerful enough to keep him quiet secondly if he is alluding to mechanical doping for Armstrong he could end up in a court case he can't win as there is no way it can be proven, no checks were ever made on Lance's bike so there's no proof and finding out if he bought a motor is neerly impossible. What's more if we ever were to find that out you still can proved he used one so it's not a winnable argument. Time for Greg to rest on his laurels relax and stop putting himself in trouble, it could cost him deerely one day. He has enough money to relax and let it go.

I'm surprised he didn't send his wife out to speak for him. That is his usual cowardly method these days.

Sounds like he might be listening to Race Radio's conspiracy nonsense. We're still waiting for the super secret dope that no one else had access to to be revealed.

Greg LeMond is a man who quit giving f--ks a long time ago. Threaten his livelihood? Been there, done that. Call him bitter? Who hasn't. He's like a Denzel Washington character. He doesn't care.

I said the same thing yesterday morning but I find it absolutely baffling how not one single journalist put these comments to Brailsford or Froome in yesterdays Sky press conference. They are an absolutely gutless horde doing a disservice to their profession.

This reads like a threat.
