He really has sufferd these past 3 years. Such a shame for such a talented guy. May he get at least one year without problems!

Highly likely end of season for him.
Not only his back is still a problem, also his foot hurts again when he's training fully. What a *** season for him.

Do you think these issues are going to be chronic?

I am not a doctor

But no I don't think so. His foot is a bit weird, as it was fine when he was training intensively before the Tour (maybe it's because he positions himself differently on the bike with his backpain). His back probably just needs more time to heal, he might've started to early in the hopes to get fit enough for Worlds. But again I'm not a doctor, and also don't know what they are saying exactly.

Is Van Eetvelt riding the Giro? He is currently listed as one of 10 riders for Lotto but he doesn't have a starting number on PCS as if he was a reserve or something. Just wondering if something is up since he has been removed from a few start lists lately, now latest for Frankfurt.

His career is going terrible right now. In fact I think it's happening to every young belgian rider.
De Lie
Nys
Cian
Widar

So much hype and performances are very underwhelming until now.
Belgium is still relying in WVA and Remco to get big wins.

There is still Merlier and Philipsen. I'm not sure about Widar...he might still be developing and fine tuning his abilities.

He got sick last week, not recovered enough apparently. Was more out of precaution is what I've been told.
I also found it very weird that he was not on the provisional for the Giro (PCS has him there cause he explicitly said he was going, not cause he's on it as a reserve) as it's been planned since the start of the season. But Lotto has had a lot of random/wrong provisionals this year, and I also asked someone who should now and he told me he's going (if fit).

Slock is also not on it and he told me personally like 2 times in the last 2 months he's going to the Giro so I wouldn't take that startlist super serious. Menten for example is on it, but he only knows since like 3 days ago as he was a replacement (and no way that start list is that recent).

You can't make steps if you're never fit. Nys surgery, Widar *** up his knee (and wouldn't surprise me if he's also gonna need surgery in the end if it doesn't fix itself soon). Van Eetvelt can't stay fit for more than a month (always been a problem with sickness tho, so imo that was to be expected)

Cian also had his physical problems and De Lie well who knows at this point.

Lotto playing down Lenny's GC ambitions at the Giro -
https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling...te-matching-vingegaard-in-early-giro-sparring
“We remain with our position: the GC is not an ambition for us,” sporting manager Kurt Van de Wouwer told Het Nieuwsblad, making clear that stage success remains the priority for both the team and Van Eetvelt.
That stance comes despite the Belgian’s strong opening to the race and the changing shape of the general classification. The mass crash on Stage 2 has already removed major names from contention, while Van Eetvelt’s ability to follow Vingegaard offered Lotto a glimpse of what might be possible if the race continues to open up.
Van de Wouwer admitted the situation could create a rare opportunity, but insisted the team do not want to burden Van Eetvelt with a target that was never part of the original plan. “But we don’t want to put pressure on him. That could have a paralysing effect,” he said.
