Navardauskas was in the entry list with the Lithuanian national team but his priority was Denmark with Garmin. So he was able to ride the race.

No need to blame UCI for everything... :rolleyes:

I wasn't blaming the UCI, just remarking on a problem that unrated races face when they move onto the international ranking scale. Big riders can race easily when your race is unrated or in a national elite or whatever, but you can have problems including them if your race goes .2. It's not really the UCI doing something wrong, it's just a quirk of the system.

I accept that I was wrong about Navardauskas though, so fair enough on that! I'd have liked to have him and Bagdonas resume their rivalry in Baltic races (they've swapped 1-2 positions in national road race and time trials recently), as they are two of my favourite riders, but it makes sense that Denmark would be more important.

GP Jef Scherens (1.1)
1. Steven Caethoven (Accent Jobs - Veranda's Willems)
2. Stijn Neyrinck (Topsport Vlaanderen)
3. Frédéric Amorison (Landbouwkrediet)

Tour du Doubs (1.1)
1. Jérôme Coppel (Saur-Sojasun)
2. Sylvain Georges (AG2R-La Mondiale)
3. Jean-Marc Bideau (Bretagne Schuller)

First two semi-stages of Giro di Padania.

Stage 1A Sant'Agostino - Bondeno
1) Enrico Rossi
2) Massimo Graziato
3) Filippo Baggio

Stage 1B San Giovanni in Persiceto - Crevalcore (TTT)
1) Colnago
2) Androni
3) Liquigas

Sonny Colbrelli is the current leader.

Great racing in the third stage of Padania. Nibali and Gatto attacked on the last bump under heavy rain and got untouched to the finish line. Gatto outsprinted Nibbles obviously.

1) Gatto
2) Nibali
3) Chiarini 13"
4) Taborre 20"
5) Modolo 20"

Rest of the (small) group was there at 20". Now Nibali leading the GC. Also good signal looking at the Worlds since the stage was 250km long. Gatto should earn a selection, I think.

Theo Bos wins Memorial Rik van Steenbergen ahead of Van Hummel, Renshaw, Greipel and Barry Markus.

Rabo sprinttrain is really improving. 7th victory for Bos, best season so far. I'm about to get my hopes up for next year
Renshaw. That's what's improved about their sprint train.

I wonder why Cyclingnews are so slow for pulishing the results after Giro di Padania, stage 4 is over since HOURS!!!

Just watched the stage. A couple of notes:

- Bettini was talking to Nibbles before the stage, apparently telling him the selections for the Worlds. Nibali nodding;

- Lo Squalo looked good. He had no team at the bottom of Bocchetta, while Colnago and Androni were still large. He responded to attacks by Brambilla and Pozzovivo and then sprinted at ease in the last 300 metres (btw Pozzovivo was with him, then totally collpased);

- Betancur has been average the whole Tour;

- Gatto abandoned before the start, a clear sign he already knows he's gonna be in Valkenburg.

Now Nibali leading the GC with 40 seconds over Pozzovivo and Chiarini.

Farnese sent a media message by saying Gatto decision to quit the race earlier was already planned weeks ago as the last 2 stages are for pure climbers and anyway not suitable to his charatheristics.

If I can say my opinion on today stage, Pozzovivo rode like he was gonna drop everyone but then just put in trouble his team mate; that's why I dont really understand his way of racing sometimes.
Chiarini in top shape as he worked whole day for Pellizzotti but he was still there with him till the finish line.

For what it counts Nibali time on the Bocchetta was 22'37'' that is quite good considering that he seemed to have some margin. By the way the record on the climb is 21'54'' and was set by Simoni in 2003.

In Pozzovivo's defense, at that point he looked mostly worried about distancing Sella et al group and it didn't look like a struggling Brambilla would be of much use.

Durasek did another interesting result. I'm more and more intrigued by him.
