For me it still is, too.
We should get rid of all these races that want to finish on top of a hill/mountain and get back to the time were a race not only exploded on hills in the last 20km, but halfway.
Some of the editions of paris-tours I watched the last 20-odd years were way better then any edition of some of the current protour races.

Compared to the races that normally gets posted here Paris-Brussel is a big race yes. Still 2.HC with more history than that kermiskoerske they call Amstel Gold Race(to be fair, I'm just quoting Rick van Looy here). :D

Paris-Tours is a real classic. Much more prestige than GP Plouay, the Canadian one day races and Vattenvall Cyclassics. Used to be called the sixth Monument. If it will become WT again it will be more prestigious than FW and AGR easily.

Despite not being WT there are still 14 WT teams at the start of Paris-Tours.

It would have deserved its own trade for sure, it's true it is not anymore one of the top races, and nowadays it has become a sprinter classic, but its history still deserves some respect.
Plus i think the final straight is one of the best possible for a sprint finish: wide road, last corner far from the finish and just slightly uphill. Together with avenue du grammont is IMHO the best possible final for a sprint in actual pro cycling.

As italian i appriciated the attack by Gatto on the last hill, he confirmed the shape that he has showed at the Padania, and i hope he will be able to support Nibali in the final of the WC.

Gatto has a lot of potential, I would like to see him at Quick Step some day. He could be molded into a new Pozzato.

All this crap about prestige... a good race is what I care about. The Tour has more prestige than the Vuelta. Did I enjoy it more? No.

Paris-Bruxelles probably has more prestige than the GP Quebec. But who the f.ck cares, anyone with eyes in their head can see that Quebec is a much better race. Unless you're El Calimero and Boonen wins.

Lol, you're not very smart are you?

I'd re-read everything that was said and then delete my post if I were you.

Ps: the Dutch are the Calimero of the cycling world.

even not considering the prestige, look at the winners of the last 20 years, they don't seem that bad to me.

Lars Bak wins the GP Fourmies by holding off the most inept bunch chase you could imagine.
Absolutely no lead outs from anybody, yet Kristoff and Kittel were 2nd and 3rd.
Having Oscarito in the same little group didn't help Katusha, but what the homeboys were playing at, I know not.

Great result for Bak. From annoying domestique at HTC to winner. :D

Katusha should've guessed that the Danes would gang up on Freire
