German commentary: Very young man winning today.
He‘s 27!!!
How old is the German commentator? Depending on your perspective, 27 might indeed be "very young".
I think I've heard Brian Holm refer to riders well into the late 30es as "the kid".

41, Bengsch probably just guessed that he must be young as a neo pro.How old is the German commentator? Depending on your perspective, 27 might indeed be "very young".

So did Pidcock (no mean descender)Looks like Badilatti and De La Cruz lost themselves 20 seconds, probably with bad descending.
Artem Nych looking good already. Wonder which stage Guerin goes full plateau de beille?Reis wins the prologue for the 5th year running

If only he had been 5-10 years older.
Senhora da Graca on stage 4 I think, to try and beat Alarcon's record. They wont wait for Torre.Artem Nych looking good already. Wonder which stage Guerin goes full plateau de beille?
He will be... eventually.
Niklas Larsen does have a 'Danish Moreira' type quality about him, shame he isn't here. But the Volta is different nowadays. They used to be miles ahead, now they're an hour behind compared to Denmark.

I'm not sure this would be a race for him, but I certainly expect him to make Skjelmose and Co. look like 13 year olds or fat Neville Southalls on Danish molehills next week, while the German commentators call him a very young guy.
As long as he doesn't go dancing afterwards...
Yeah I just stumbled upon the race as well when I saw the PCS results. They're basically racing through the valleys/on the high plateau around Tibet. Crazy stuff but probably a pretty cool experience for the riders.6 .1 or higher stage races are underway, the least prestigious of which is the Trans-Himalaya Cycling Race, which confusingly consists entirely of flat stages between 2800 and 4100 meters of elevation. There isn‘t even a KOM competition. Burgos, Euskaltel and Solution Tech-Vini Fantini are there to farm points.

Over 49 km/h on the first stage...Trans Himalaya is the perfect meme race.
I'm always interested just for the effects of altitude on the average speed of flat stages.
