Very bad tactics from astana. Controlling the race all day and then trying nothing in the final. If Scaroni hadn't the legs today, they had enough good riders here to try something different

Schmid got 85 points for finishing 2nd in the NXT classic. He would have been to ride Ronde Vlaanderen where he could have got more than 85 points.

There seems to be very little history of Schimd even participating in the cobbled races. Why would he suddenly be a factor in RvV.

He would have needed to finish 13th or better which was a possibility. Do you realise how bad Jayco's cobbled squad is.
Yes, its pretty bad, but just about everybody from 13th and up are accomplished riders in these races. Everything is possible ofcourse, but the odds didn't look good imo. Anyway, hopefully he can keep the form into the Ardennes block.

Tomorrow we have the 72nd Région Pays de la Loire Tour (2.Pro) where farmers and perhaps lesser established pro cyclists line up.
First up:

Stage 2:

Another day, another stage:

It all ends in Le Mans:

Startlist: https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/region-pays-de-la-loire/2026/startlist which suggest there might be room for surprises.

From what I can tell, there will be live pics and the stages are scheduled to end more than 60mins before the eta in the Basque country.
