I had no idea how much was left of the race in Canada, so I was only listening to the broadcast while doing other stuff, and then it was suddenly over. Dullest commentary of a sprint I've ever heard.
Paternoster won, so Didinho must be quite happy.

I’m happy!
Not in the strongest field and as the big favorite but this feels so good. Seeing her tearing up, almost got me too.
Told her before the race she should enjoy Canada and that I was ready to celebrate her victory. Now I’m gonna “told you so” her.

Perfect team effort from Liv.

Paternoster should have had another 2 or 3 wins in 2024 if she was better placed by the team. There have been lots of missed opportunities!

You know her?
Not personally.
I’ve talked to her multiple times when she raced in Belgium the last years. Always takes time when she can and appreciates the fans. Most of the track Italians btw, sweet and lovely down to earth people.
A lot of bad luck and 2nd places so I know this first win for Liv was needed.

She asked me to keep giving her motivation untill the Olympics so I felt a bit more connected and happy now to see her win again.

She recognized me in Leuven last time, although I was Gilbert-blonde back then.

If you have talked to her face to face, and she's able to recognise you, I think it does counts as knowing her personally on some level.

It's a disgrace that Paternoster did not ride a GT in 2024. I understand, she had track commitments, but a GT could easily have been programmed from early in the year.

Marieke van Soest with an interesting set-up in the T1 ITT race:
Just a guy, on a bike, with bag of spare wheels.

And in the T2 race, Emma Lund was able to save Denmark's honour a little bit by getting silver behind Van Till.

Vos Van Den Bouwhuijsen. Obvious name for a Spanish person.

I guess it could be similar to the former Spanish swimmers Aschwin and Olaf Wildeboer, who are born in Spain, but have Dutch parents (their father being the controversial, and now deceased, former Danish national team coach Paulus Wildeboer. Olaf even dated Rikke Møller Pedersen about a decade ago).

Or, I guess, a certain pair of British sisters named Backstedt.

What just happened?
A chasing group in the men's (B) race entering the shorter circuit just as the lead in the women's race went by the entry-point?

Two Irish pairs and One British pair in the lead.
Brits include one young lady who'd probably like to not live up to her name.

Also, why do the pilots have differently coloured bib numbers? I think most people can figure out that the person in the front is the pilot...

In which case, can we please have a thread for WWT races, or is that a step to far?

We have threads for the bigger WWT races.
But some of the smaller ones just don't warrant separate threads.

Bit like how some of the Men's WT races don't get their own separate threads.
