I don't know if that's true, or why that should matter, but I do somehow find this return of Anna a bit... I don't know, odd. Not sure what to expect of it, or what her motivations are.

I don't know if it's true either, hence why I said "the story runs", as I've heard it as a persistent rumour, but nobody's come out and expressly stated it as fact.

However, it adds further easy dots to connect for those who perceive the treatment of Vollering - who would largely target the same part of the calendar as van der Breggen of course - within the team this season as being more than mere incompetence from the team car.

So, I had been wondering whether it would be possible for a rider to ride a pro race before turning 18, by getting a stagiare contract in their last year as a junior.

Eleonora Gasparrini wins a sprint of a break of three in Stuttgart, ahead of Lieke Nooijen and Floortje Mackaij, who initiated the move on the last part of the rolling course and tried to keep the duo from catching on to her, eventually paying for it by not having enough left for the sprint. Mareille Meijering won the reduced battle for the placements behind.

Seems from the results sheet that Mackaij has been moved down to 11th, and likely had a good go at the Domenico Pozzovivo specialist class in sprinting!

Not that it costs Movistar of course as Meijering moves up to the podium.

I have been critical of Liv Alula's Jayco's race programming which does not suit the characteristics of their riders. Somehow, they are riding a one day race in Canada next week which they should win, however, they could have riddenin either of todays's European races and got a win. I can only think they must be in canada for sponsors reasons.

I was hoping they would ride in Belgium next week so I could go watch. So they’re in Canada?? Didn’t think they would take the jetlag races.

Debora Silvestri took a solo win in the Pionera Race in Valenciana. Her teammate Catalina Soto won the sprint for second ahead of Welsh talent Awen Roberts.

PCS got Paternoster on the startlist in Canada for the Chrono 20km race and the road race 2 days later. Hope she can get the victory there to have some positive endings this year.
Hoped she would race in Belgium next week, wanted to see her win on the Citadel of Namen.

I always felt her motivation was basically SDworx can't afford to sign a replacement for Vollering, and AvdB still thinks she can cut it, so it was a "cheap" sponsor friendly way of solving their big name rider signing problems.

I note they keep making big noises about keeping riders who we kind of already expected would stay. Guarischi signing for 2 more years wasn't unexpected imo

Though I'd have to say this new info makes me think it's been more of a stitch up than anyone realised.

The reality is it's not Vollering problem they have, it's an SDWorx problem, Demi leaving doesn't solve their attitude, or their lack of ability to work together as a team. Kopecky will carry on doing her own thing, Wiebes will too, everyone else on the team will have to cope with it

That's probably not sufficient reason to take up your career as a pro athlete again. Her attitude has always been "I happen to be really good at this pro athlete business, but do I like it? Not really". That won't have changed. So I'm a bit skeptical. Of course the talent is there, some athletes are all grinta and less talent, she's probably the opposite. That could work in her favor: she doesn't need to be 100% motivated to still deliver.

Yeah, but if either of the two is prepared to work for the other, it's Vollering. She also did a leadout for Kopecky the other day. Kopecky just sits on Vollering's wheel for a whole climb and then tries to outsprint her at the end

Given that Vollering is allegedly leaving the team, Kopecky is doing the best for herself and the SD Works team.
