Oddly enough Frodo said he was sick during MSR as well and Goss complained of the same problem in PN.

probably. Abdominal adhesions causing obstructions is a relatively common problem after abdominal surgery. It's certainly a plausible explanation for why someone appeared healthy during the day but was hospitalized over night.
