Well... for all the good things that Hamilton and Landis did, they also told their story only when their career was over... not under pressure from the USADA, but they are not the holy guys that stood up and sacrificed themselves and their careers either.

If you compare Hincapie retiring at 39, Voight still riding next year at 41, Horner still riding, Landis and Hamilton could've still been riding if they followed similar paths to them.

Yeah, none of these guys can wrap themselves in any glory with these "confessions". From Millar through the ones today, they are basically only coming out because they have been busted.

Irrespective of the difference basis and timings for admission, I think Tygart's words in relation to all the riders are pertinent and all of them deserve respect for their part in providing evidence of the USPS program.

If, as Tygart hopes, this episode can be used to break omerta and leave a clean legacy in cycling (I'm not convinced, but hopeful at least), then all of the witnesses will have had a positive influence on the sport, Levi included.

True, but they were sidelined before.

I'm not arguing their decision was easy, and I really appreciate it that they told us their story in detail. However, I don't see a fundamental difference in timing as some posters here argue. Doesn't take away that they did it freely and the other batch only under pressure from USADA or anything. It's just... I think we need to stick to the facts and the truth as possible and not create a black and white good guy bad guy distinction.

I can believe Hincapie stopped five years ago. I cannot say the same for Leipheimer. No way did he barely miss out on winning the Tour and the Vuelta while racing clean.

Yeah the tone changed significantly around 2007 ish. Almost as if he told them what they wanted to hear to catch their guy, but no self-incriminating stuff after his time with Ferrari or Postal.

What about Contador? Is he mentioned at all in this case?

If JB was running the team in 2007, then his main contenders were doping. So, undoubtedly, this enlarges the asterisk on the 2007 and 2009 Tours.

I do not at all believe that riders coming to Astana or Radio Shack when Johan was at the helm, and achieve great things for old men, were clean during those years. No way. Booooooooo!!

The Levi effect? Smells like shoyt.

Agreed. Hincapie clean five or six years: believable. Leipheimer: not believable. No way, no how.

typical Leipheimer: ride the wheels of others and then pop out for your own moment.

Glad he confessed, not sure how much I believe (I'm with brodeal), but I don't see what incentive he had to testify, so that puts him up a bit in my books.

He named (redacted) everyone's favourite doctor in his affidavit! That's the mastermind behind all this! Once a sinner... :D

I don't believe for a second that LL would suddenly stop doping upon joining Astana, which was basically Discovery mark 2, with pretty much the same people in charge. No way. He admitted to what USADA already knew because it would have been foolish not to, and remained silent about the rest. No respect from me.
