Swiss "Blick" found the reason why Hirschi isn't performing

Hope to god we get a good and exciting battle.

I fear that we might not. It could just be that Pog attacks on La Redoute like last year and no one, not even Remco, is even close to following, and then Pog uses Cote de Forges and Roche aux Faucons to extend his gap.

Question is if Remco will play passive and just try to follow Pog when he attacks. To me that is likely a doomed strategy. How can anyone be confident to follow an attack by Pog after what we saw on Huy? Pog can just push so much higher power when he attacks. And on La Redoute he will probably have strong lead out on the climb that will put everyone in red before he attacks.

Thumbs up for Ben OC and Skjelmose to bring some extra for this day. Especially Ben O'Connor, he was good in WC last year, well different dynamics here tbo, but..;)

Around what time PST (or say what time zone you’re using) does everyone think they will be about 40 kms to go?

Hope for a great race to finish the spring classics campaign.

Pogačar has to be the favourite, his defeat at Amstel might have given his rivals a little bit of hope but the climbs in Liège are better suited to him and after that performance in Flèche, I have a hard time seeing anyone staying with him until the finish.

Remco is probably the rider that will come closer, he is in good shape but I think La Redoute or Roche Aux Faucons are simply too hard for him to stay with Pogačar and I also don't see him easily coming back afterwards.

For me the remaining riders will be fighting for third place, if they aspiring doing better than that, they should try to antecipate in between Stockeau and Desnié, perhaps trying to take advantage of UAE's weaker team. Pidcock is probably the strongest bet for third as Healy can't sprint, Skjelmose is hurt after the Flèche and Liège is likely still too hard for Nys.

So how will Remco use his teammates today? Is Remco betting on that a hard race improves his chances? In that case will we see his doms, not UAE's, pushing the pace on the climbs? Will the team try to reduce Pog's doms so it's easier roll attacks? With no Christen there, is it possible to reduce Pog's doms to just McNulty before La Redoute?

Whilst there will always be debate as to the quality of preparation and form of riders, I feel like today's race carries extra significance in terms of the Pogacar vs. Evenepoel rivalry, perhaps answering whether we do have a rivalry at all for the foreseeable future. This is Remco territory (Classico San Remco jokes aside); fingers crossed that he can be competitive.

Will we get the second ever good edition with the current route? Probably not.

Wait, I just remembered that I haven't actually watched 2020 yet, but the sprint I do know of, and that must qualify it as a decent race at least. I guess we'll see. Watching it now. CCC rider in the break.
