it seems to me that very few people on either team actually know what is going on. this is all smoke and mirrors that riders, team mechanics, soigneurs, masseurs and more importantly sponsors have not got a clue what is happening. The snake oil salesmen are back in town and Pat is buying it buy the barrel.

This type of dealing is detrimental to the sport. I can see mercedes really looking forward to getting involved with another pro cycling team

And shítheads like McQuaid are trying to take the sport global, well if teams are allowed to dump on sponsors it aint going to happen

Everything on the Bruyneel/CSE Radioshack-Nissan-Trek side sure seems ok.

But on the Becca Leopard-Mercedes side yikes.

IF anyone should know... mostly it appears that would apply to you all. I said it 40 pages ago, I say it now. Most of what is here is speculation. Most of it turning out to be wrong. The hog could never get LT to merge, RSNT would never merge, if they did merge,JB will not be DS etc....

It sure seems to me that there is a lot of bloviating and not much exchange of information in this thread. Mostly, its only function seems to be that is it really entertaining to watch people endlessly blow smoke when they have nothing to base it on.

Ok, so now that you've stuck your foot in it, why don't you point out where I said anything at all that remotely resembles "bloviating". While you're at it, why don't you point out some speculation (other than my conclusion reached after quite a bit of research trying to find any evidence of a sponsorship extension) made on my part.

You complain about a lack of information exchange, yet that was my very point. I repeatedly asked for viable information relating to a claim that Nissan and Trek renewed their sponsorship for two years. None was given.

Instead of contributing to the dialog, and providing "information" that furthers that dialog, you choose to pop in thumping your chest and pompously lecture everyone, boasting that you had us all figured out "40 pages ago".

From out here in the cheap seats, this saga has all the same features of Tailwind politics we've seen before.

-Jilted riders
-Total chaos that should generate huge concerns at the UCI but don't.
-UCI left to clean up the mess by dusting off a few rules and re-interpret some others.
-Obvious application of the takeover mentality.

This time they managed to spurn big-money sponsors Daimler.

As another post mentions, I think Pat will let this happen because he thinks it will be good for cycling in July. Pat will have an interview with multiple media properties blessing the deal in 2 weeks or less.

I didn't say I figured it out, I said that this thread lacked content 40 pages ago. I haven't seen one post that seriously advances most of the contentions. The only really useful post was the one which analyzed which riders were signed based on reports. All the interpretation of the rest is just the ranked kind of speculation. If you like JB and RS you read it one way, if you're a Schleck Fanboy another. Mostly just wishful thinking. I'm not really on either side but I think that JB ending up in a charge of a team he isn't paying for is a smooth bit of negotiation considering that many here early in the thread assumed he was screwed.

I took the liberty of having a look at your post:

There is a serious amount of vitriol in this thread most of it unrelated to the actual topic. If I'm reading about a merger, personally, I'd like to read about that and not what people think of the personalities involved.

1. We don't know if a merger has taken place
2. We don't know the actual circumstances of said merger or what anyone involved has told anyone else.

What I have found out so far it that, 2 weeks is the difference between being a saint like Bob S and telling your crew in August and telling your team in Sept. ( which BTW, is 3 months notice at the least, has anyone else here ever gotten that much notice of a layoff).

I also found out that many people dislike JB. It's a free country, you get to to that but ascribing motives and actions to him without actually knowing what he has or has not done just seems petty. Frankly the entire thread is 99 % petty conjecture and about 1 % actual information.

While a lot of your post is 'bloviating' I hope you have worked out points 1 & 2 above on your own.

Stage 16 of the Vuelta summed up this one year experiment with Leopard Trek. Team Leopard are in position for a victory, they lead out only to go right when they should have gone left. Leaving the victory open to a former Saxo Bank teammate to coast to the win.

This is a mess. I agree with earlier posters that Andy's twitter was not his usual English. Too timely to get dental surgery. He knew.

Will be interesting to see just how much more super the Schlecks get. I don't see how Radio Shack old dudes help win the only GT they try to win. I think they have a wrap on all the American GT's... If they can race in the US next year.

Don't know My understanding was that Becca would no longer have a controlling interest.

CSE is not owned by a single person. It has an ownership group - including the known major players.

That group now has a stake in Leopard, controls team operations and runs the marketing.

"Bruyneel's team" AKA a team under the auspices of CSE is not "done".

The "guys in Austin" and JB will both have an ownership stake

I have reason to believe that JB and the people at CSE will have a controlling interest, and therefore retain control.

Bruyneel's team is not disappearing. The management and ownership from RS will be in charge of this team.

My understanding is that Becca will retain an ownership stake, but not the whole entity or a controlling interest in it.

I believe Becca will remain an owner, but certainly not the owner. )

You claimed that CSE is a part owner of new team. Becca says very clearly that no Americans are owners of the team or the pay agent..... and nobody from CSE has claimed they are either. Becca also says marketing will be managed out of Luxembourg.
