Because they can?

HL2037 said:But if the team is not bankrupt then why not pay the riders on time? Another scare tactic from Bruyneel or?
Also there was the story about the kitchen truck. Last year it was shown off in the press. This year it is gone, and the compagny who built it hasn't been payed yet.
BillytheKid said:That does make sense and because he can do what he did in the first week, he gets away with it. I still don't agree with it, but I also don't agree with the placement the road events at the Olympics. How many others are going home now? Your sponsor pays you to ride the most televised cycling event in the world for a reason, not to ride the Olympics.

Christian said:The rider having sued Leopard S.A. through his company is indeed Jakob Fuglsang. Rock: "This affair is actually pretty simple. Last year, we paid Mr. Fuglsang's salary to a private company. This year, we were told to pay them to a different company. We then asked for legal documents assuring us of the seriousness of this company, because we do not want to be involved in any way in money laundering. To this day, we are waiting for these documents".

Good for you but different companies handle things differently. I hardly think Leopard was excessive or out of bounds to ask for a few simple documents. If Fuglsang doesn't provide them that's either his own negligence or one must ask why he didn't provide them.
Of course it's possible that there was some miscommunication

sounds like they just don't want to pay someone that's p*ssed them off
Christian said:Idk I'm not a legal expert, are you? For one I believe Team Radioshack Nissan Trek has nothing to do with this, but Leopard S.A. does. Idk if they were legally allowed to withhold payments because of this but I believe they were certainly entitled to ask for a minimum of information on where their money was going
HL2037 said:So if you were working for me would I be entitled to withhold your paycheck until you had proved to me that you would not spend it on hookers and blow? Is that how things work in Luxembourg?
Christian said:If your company was under scrutiny by the media every day and I was your star employee you would be entitled to some security that you are not funding criminal activity ... that is how things work most everywhere, I am afraid.
And if to prove that all I had to do was make a copy I guess I could live with that ...
