Why just randomly make up that has anything to do with the problems behind the scenes?
My comment about the French guy on a Belgian team talking about the Dutch was intended as a joke, but of course the joke stems from cultural differences that are pretty well-established. Clichés always ring true in some sense.

Heulot doesn't come off very well in this new article by Wielerflits, btw. When they do actual journalism and not clickbait copy-paste stuff they can be pretty good.

Well yeah now you can say something haha. And I can confirm most out of this article, but I also know some of these things are - like Wielerflits always does - exaggerated. I also know for a fact that one of their main sources is Pascal Eenkhoorn who has never been happy with the team cause he can't ride what he wants (which is completely normal for someone like him imo but ok).

And just to be clear, I'm not a big Heulot fan, but I also know that he's working under the national Lottery, which must be hell. He is like Lelangue 2.0 at this point (but with less communication), that's not a coincidence. CEO's at Lotto are often puppets for the people who actually pull the strong (directors board). So while I think Heulot's communication is 100% not his strong suit, blaming just him is waaaay to easy.

And the Van de Wouwer dig is also a bit stupid imo. I don't think he's good enough to be a sporting director at a good team, i have doubt about his knowledge (some of his signings prove that) and I think he's way to emotionally connected to the young Belgian guys meaning he would never make the hard decision to let some of them go when they are not good enough, but the whole thing about pushing riders to ride, not giving them rest, I'm sorry but you ride in a team that needs points, of course you're gonna have to ride a lot. And if you compare it to Cofidis, Intemrarché, Arkea, etc. Lotto isn't even riding a lot.

Overall it also seems like Dstny has been more of a problem, if they are right that they haven't payed everything then it's hard to blame the team for that at least, but the thing about Heulot's and Van de Wouwers communication in the team (to riders, staff, etc) being pretty bad at times is something I can confirm. And like I said previous Heulot interviews were just lies, covering up their financial problems, I don't like that either.

Tamineau's win today is of some importance, the renewal of sponsorship today by Caps apparently much more so. Today is the deadline for budgets to be submitted to prove a team's viability for next season, and it seems that without either of Caps or Dstny (the departure of the latter seems to be established fact) they would not have had a plausible presentation to make.

25 wins, 9 being WT (including 2 stage races), lots of good close results in WT races, 9th on the UCI ranking for the 2nd year in a row, basically guaranteed to be WT again in 2026.

If we only look at the sportive side of things 2025 was a very successful year for the team. Sadly a bit (or completely in the Belgian press tbh) overshadowed by the financial problems and It's very possible 2026 might not be as successful given they lost some quality cause of it (and are maybe about to lose way more), but you can't say they haven't been doing great work the last 2 to 3 years.

Have to feel sorry for the riders when management start being a**eholes.
It's pretty common knowledge in Belgium that Jannie Haek is inept in his role as managing the national lottery.
Not only was he forced to take a leadership course. His every move is currently being watched by the sister of the party leader of MR(the biggest Walloonian political party) in her role as a government observer . The only reason he's not getting fired is bureaucracy and the fact that they probably would have to pay a hefty severance package.
Here's another fact about Jannie Haek, the unions have failed multiple complaints for "toxic leadership", "verbal assualt" and "excessive use of alchohol on the job". If he was a mere mortal he would've been fired but no, because he's the CEO of the national lottery he gets to be an absolute piece of work...
I hate Belgian politics...

The rumoured new sponsor is "Digi" a telecommunications company with roots in Romania.

Not the one I'm talking about. Digi was a rumor for 2025 back in July (and only for a smaller amount). That one didn't go through when Digi had to delay everything. They're still not fully launched in Belgium. It is obviously possible they are still negotiating with them for the future, but the one I'm talking about is bigger. The rumors are pretty vague tho. I know certain journalists know about it but they don't publish it (or at least not the name of the company) so I'm assuming it's not a done deal and with Sponsors in cycling a lot can change.

Jasper De Buyst developped a post-covid asthma. Which was the reason for his lackluster season last year.
He has an inhaler right now and is doing better but they're still looking for the right amount of "puffs".
He looks to be on the right track (literally). A couple of weeks ago he took two national titles in track racing.

a very disappointing start of the season, Menten is absent in the sprints, weak teams at the start of the races... but even then not one single rider in the bunch at la Marseillaise...

Veistroffer seems to be good element for the moment, given his fysical appearance he could do P-R...

hopefully Van Eetvelt will deliver in the UAE tour...
