Magnus Cort: The Man With the Best Moustache in the Peloton

Cort will be without a win for 11 months when the 2026 season starts. That's not ideal for him nor for his team (who hired him for his ability to win races).

The best rider of the team, THJ, hasn’t won a race in 2 years. It doesn’t seem to bother them at all. Cort has done incredibly well riding for Uno-X, he won their first WT-win, he’s been great for the younger riders in the team and he has scored an average of 1000 points over these two seasons (808 this season, 1242 last season). For comparison: during his final 3 seasons at EF he averaged something like 600 points.

Even with half a season of problems, he’s been a great signing for Uno-X in all ways and his development and results has been very good. I don’t see any reason why Uno-X or Cort himself should enter next season with any big doubts just because it’s 11 months since his last win.

I can't say if Cort is a good signing. I don't know how expensive he is for the team. I see him as a race winner whose purpose was to take over from an ailing Kristoff. But Cort is nowhere near Kristoff.

His new role at Uno-X should clearly be working in his favour. He has had a whole team supporting him in races - at EF his role was less clear.

I used to think Cort would eventually get a normal season with decent results throughout the year. But it doesn't happen. He has his 2-3 months, and that's it. Sad because his potential was so much higher.

But okay, if you don't consider that potential and just regard him as a default top 50-150 rider, then he lives up to that.

However the fact that he's been able to win races 12 years after his breakthrough in the Tour of Denmark tells you that he's still a very good rider when in shape.

It's a bit like Fuglsang who didn't get many top results despite his big potential - and then suddenly he caught up massively with huge successes before stagnating. I regard Cort as just as strong - he just hasn't had a run like the one Fuglsang had. (Yet.)
