Magnus Cort: The Man With the Bluest Moustache in the Peloton

Apart from the podium at the Tour of Denmark, it's been some quiet months for Cort. The races in Northern America gave nothing, and he's not even participating at the European Championships (where the course has an uphill finish that would normally suit Cort). I don't know what to make of this, other than Cort seems to have a short period during the season in which he gets his results - and then a long period with few results. This is of course also the explanation why he is rarely in the top 100 in the UCI ranking.

He is apparently allergic to one-day races.

He looked decent in Montreal but was only there as a helper for Healy and Powless (who both disappointed).

It will be extremely interesting to follow him next year in Uno-X. When they are hunting for points they need Cort to become a reliable point scorer and they will probably be sent to a lot more one day races (especially since he can't expect to get two GTs as he's been doing the last few years).
Can a change of environment and maybe a small tweak in the training suddenly make him competitive in one day races?

It was as early as May that Cort was rumoured to Uno-X - a rumour that turned out to be true. Cort hasn't made any significant results since then, except in PostNord Danmark Rundt which is special because it fits his personal ambitions of doing well in Denmark.

So I think it would be fair to assume that this is an example of a rider who loses over-all motivation in connection with a change of workplace.

I thought it, but I didn't want to be the first to say it.

He lost a bet!
