Nice win, but really, it's the minimum of what was expected of him today. I'm impressed he beat Farrar, but frankly outside of the sprint Tommeke was not super impressive today. I think he's going to have a harder time this year than last w/Fabo.

Gilbert looked solid today in a race that doesn't suit him; he's on the podium next week.

I thought Chavenal did a savvy ride to keep the other teams chasing til just the right moment, though I was a little surprised he couldn't get back to Stannard's wheel. That's a fine line, and could have backfired had Stannard been a touch stronger. I also thought Sagan would be able to answer and was surprised he could not.

For RVV:

1) Spartacus
2) Gilbert
3) Steegmans will be the strongest for QS

I didn't see anyone today that could have done anything with the Canc we saw yesterday next week or the week after. Unless there is some wicked weather, Canc takes the next two weeks easily.

I think they are still two teams.

They have good riders but a little bit over confident. They cant Just think they can just turn up and win easily against riders such as Canc, Gilbert, Boonen, and a few others.

Idiot with a camera caused the crash. This happens too often. He was way too far out on the road. Good win for Boonen. Gutsy ride by the break. I thought Stannard was going to hang on but the time checks seem to be off kilter. BMC had a lot of riders up front but wound up with nothing to show for it.

That result is completely wrong

5th and 6th aren't Vd Walle and Devenyns
8th isn't Kristoff.

they were even from other teams.

Absolutely agree. I think we are about to see an ***-kicking of epic proportions the next two weeks; will make last years' races look like nail-biters. My take on it is if Fabo is really going to try to win Luik next year, he's going to have to sacrifice some of the incredible power he's built up, and wants to make sure whomever wins RVV and PR the next three years will have an asterisk next to their name.

We can either call it boring, or sit back and enjoy the sight of a once every-other generation cobbled classics guy dismantle the best in the world. I plan to do the latter, fueled by one or three tasty adult beverages. ;)

From what JV said after E3 I think Garmin will have either Hushovd or Haussler glued to Cancellara's wheel for the entire length of Roubaix and Flanders.

Hey, no one would be happier than I if we had a super close and exciting Ronde; I just don't see anyone even close to him. If Fabo fails to absolutely eviscerate the fields the next two weeks I'll be first on here offering my mea culpa. ;)

Thanks, I'll go back and edit it for referrence once everything is official.

What a horrible way to start my morning. I get of of bed, open my laptop to the CN feed and see:

16:15 CEST
The sprinters are coming.

Boonen first

I feel like I just stepped off a train after a long ride, and the platform is empty and I'm 3 hours away from my intended destination. Now I have to re-read the thread with all the anticipation of watching an ice cube melt. :(

oh and one last thing. atm boonen still is the best cobble rider of this generation and you shouldn't count him off that easy :p

yes and? if there is something cycling isn't its predictable. does he looks like the strongest rider? yes does the strongest rider always win? no

Me too, but if I were taking bets, I'd only pay .10 to 1 odds.

So it looks like, ONCE AGAIN, the hardening of the pre-season paid off as planned.
