Ok sure, but things happen. They sent 4 guys back when he was initially 15 seconds behind - the situation then developed quicker than they were able to adjust to (i.e. Cav bonked mega style, so the gap grew quickly). They didn't know at the time they'd end up 90 seconds behind, and I doubt they would have sent the men if they thought they would.

Let it go. Plan A failed. Plan B is still on.

Thor did beat Hagen in a sprint in the Tour.
Would this be the 2 on 1 finish garmin pulled on ebh that says absolutely nothing about sprinting ?

You might be missing one of these - ;)

Nope but he is obviously the leader of BMC today and has been riding near the front. That shows he has good form, totally different from what he said before the race.

Ok, I wouldn;t interpret either of those things in the same way, but fine.

Still not a clue why BMC joined in the pulling earlier to drop Cav. BMC has absolutely no chance at a victory if the Cipressa & Poggio are raced in a way a top form Cav could have survived, so there was 0 incremental benefit to them from dropping him early - they just shot their wad to the beneft of the sprinter teams.

Sky were seriously strong, maybe they feared his team mates more than they feared him.

Do we know how the second, now resigned, group got so big? Did BMC/Omega?Liqui really shell them on the flat? Was there a fall missed by cameras? The Quintero incident was right at the side of the road and shouldn't have split the field that much, but there were many more than this that left Cavendish & Co behind on La Marnie.

Dont know if its been said. Might have just gradually picked up other dropped groups. farrar got distanced on the descent apparently.

Okay that sprint was not 'fair'. But you still need to be able to sprint pretty good to keep Boasson Hagen at bay even in that way.

And in the process of dropping the 1 man who would stop other sprinter teams from pulling stuff back after the Poggio, they now made every other sprinter team committed to keeping it together.

EBH did a mistake, he looked left when Hushovd started his sprint very close to the line.

Is Boonen in the front group? If so I hope for revenge for 2010 against Freire :)

Given they had tag teamed him all the way down the descent, the final sprint was like an act of defilement on an already lifeless corpse.
