Great nerve shown by Gerrans. Often you've got to be willing to lose a bike race if you want to win it. Cancellara has both the strength and tactical thinking of a racehorse.

Nibali had nothing in the end. Next year 100% for Sagan, anything else must be considered stupid when you have him on the team.

Sagan should have gone with Canc.

If you're capable of remembering a year ago, Gilbert couldn't beat Fabian in a sprint.

To be fair Gilbert did use more energy than Cancella prior to that sprint.
But that probably would not have mattered anyway.

I think Gilbert and Cancellara are quite equally matched in a flat sprint though with a small advantage for Cancellara.

I'm truely disappointed with this winner but well he was the smartest so there's nothing to whine about....

I think Nibali was working for Sagan all the way because he didn't hold anything back for the sprint, he was hanging on for dear life. I think he attacked just to force others to chase and give Sagan a free ride.

Positive notes: Degenkolb is a true hard men for the classics. And there goes the myth that you can't win by attacking in the Poggio nowadays.

Sky was probably the biggest let down. They should have shifted to EBH as soon as Cav was 2min down.

You are crediting Gerrans for being clever because he followed Cancellara?

That doesn't require that many brains.

No one else went with Canc! What does that make the rest?

what's with the long faces? that's how you ride a succesful finale against fabu in a small group, this has been proven time and again. of course it's a gamble that the bunch gets back, but hey, to win you gotta be ready risk losing.

but indeed, sagan should have gone with them.
