You're not watching whats on the screen...there is no way all the other sprinters and their full squads are in that smallish front group...and even more helpers will get shelled on cipressa and poggio. A sprinter may win this, but it's not going to be a tour type field sprint

There's no way Sky's squad would have been there either in its entirity, so that logic applies equally to the original suggestion BMC were scared of Sky's teammates.

Either way that pushing the pace at that stage made sense for sprinters teams, and not for BMC. They obviously feel generous.
