Flat?

10 times a 600m climb at 9% average with 200m at 12%....
The stage is relatively short (140km), so they'll be going like crazy!
Hard to control for the sprinters teams I guess, lots of opportunities to get yourself in a breakaway.

Profile says 100m rise, I calculated about 1.3%, no?

Actually more like 1.5% from the profile.

JTL might finish top 5 but his team will suck in the TTT. Kessiakoff and Garzelli should also challenge ( no Betancur because of the DNF at M-SR ).

Not sure they'll suck in the TTT. They have some decent TT'ers/strong riders (Wetterhall, Voss, Dempster, Downing, Camano). They'll lose time but not as much as you might think (assuming they all have TT bikes that is!)

No offense, but the great champion that Gino Bartali was deserves to not have his name misspelt.
Your right Fus087
I shouldn't make typos while be so flippant.

Respect -to both great men Bartali and Coppi.

Rubiano, Serpa, Battaglin, Brambilla, Moser.... and there are lots more :)

But don't blame me if it does become a sprint :)

Better check the detailed info on the website of the race

Depends.
It appears to contradict itself.
It also says about the 105 metre top out, which reflects the profile.
I very much doubt that they are climbing 6000 metres in 140kms!

Looks to me like the old, normal half stage, on the TTT day, but with and extra couple of laps thrown in.
Usually, a bunch sprint.

It's not 6000m in altitude :)

Looking in Streetview on Google Maps shows a relatively short steep part and after that it seems to become less difficult.
Still hard to imagine how difficult it will be, when done 10 times...

10 times 600m?;)

Certainly looks like the usual Riccione climb from the sea front.
Clearly it's 600m of 9% and 200m of 12%, in two ramps, with the flat bit coming on the left hand turn.
Overall average is less than 3%, but irrelevant, due to the dual steps.
I say again: buncho spinto.

With all the information about the parcours to hand, I'm pretty much none the wiser. If it's a classicsy type course I suppose Guardini may be dropped, in which case I hope Kump wins, cos he's on my CQ team.

Thank you.

it's the usual opening stage that ends in a sprint.

3 laps and 2.25. Not coming down that much but still must be 40km to go, plenty of time yet.

Looks like Andrea Palini of Team Idea won from the break, but the race seemed too complicated to understand the ticker much.
