My dark horse for the overall is Timon Seubert. Not many results from TTs, but was 7th in the German nationals last year. Only 1minute 11 seconds behind Tony Martin on a 42,5 km course. He also needs to start scoring some points for the CQ ranking game;)

Great duo Liquigas has for the cobbled races now, Oss and Sagan.

Yeah they do look like threats- great work by both.

If Sagan maintains his form from here he shall be present at RvV. Oss is so strong and last years' sprint in the TDF against Cav showed how fast he is.

Congrats to Sagan, Guareni and Sabatini ( he is developing well ). Great attacking from OPQS.

as if westra can't do well in pan flat time trial

unless he gets sick again like last year (where even with illness he finished 2nd), he will have no competition from chavanel

expect much more competition from those young guns like sergent and durbridge though
+1

"No competition" might be a bit too much, I think Chava got quite close last year as well, but a good Westra should beat him in a TT like this. El Pisti suddenly regards Westra as an MTT specialist

Oh, and Pisti, he's terrible in the rain. That's not an excuse, just a clear fact.

Will Sagan ride for the GC? I don't think he can produce the necessary TT time and I don't think he will win today and get another 10 second bonus.

He might even pack it in after 2 days and focus on Sunday.

IIRC he was third in one of the stages last year and DNS the third day, so it's quite probable.
I think he could actually be top 10 or very close in this TT if he puts his mind to it.

he anounced it'd be Sabatini's and Bodnar's turn for the second and third day, so I doubt we gonna see much of him before the Ronde

Yeah but he also said the original plan for yesterday was just a training ride

His form is so good he's probably struggling to go slow enough not to get involved in a race :)

Sabatini was the designated sprinter yesterday, he told Sagan he hadn't got the legs to go for the victory

but it may be the same case today, that's right

Sagan was 11th in the final stage of Tirreno - Adriatico, a 9,3 km flat time trial. He lost 23 seconds to Cancellara, 11 seconds to Bennati and 7 or less to the riders placed 3.-10. This without having a GC placement to defend.

Don't see much sign of any headwind coming in off the North Sea today based upon the average speed - over 45 km/h.

Chava in the first group, Westra absent....
I thought I saw a Vacans rider in there and I thought it was Westra. But we'll see.

It's 74km and almost all ITT specialists except Chavanel are missing so it will be Quick Step vs the rest

I can't believe a rider like Westra who is born in echelons has now missed one. Pfff :(

That guy cannot win a race.
