I've counted five countries for Cipollini, but I may have missed one. He's also won two GT stages which started in the Netherlands, but finished somewhere else.

Robbie McEwen has six.

Greipel is also on six.

Yeah he was my first thought because of the prologue wins but not winning in Giro cost him 7.

I was there in Apeldoorn for the '16 prologue, there were some insane cheers when it was announced Cance had had a mechanical or something

I think you're right. He's won stages in France, Italy and Spain. Plus Andorra (2016 Tour), Netherlands (2016 Giro), Israel (2018 Giro)

Yes but it also wasn’t a stage that he could win and even he stated as much “Reigning Olympic time trial champion Fabian Cancellara called it "crazy" and laughed when asked if he would be a contender for victory.”
Probably even crazier he never really featured in any road stage with his capabilities.

EDIT: I'm wrong. '09 stage started in Monaco but finished in France. He threw himself on the floor with a shot at a Yorkshire one too

Canterbury was also a missed opportunity to add GB to that list.

Everytime he wins I smile. The return of Mark has been a sad but turned into a great story. What a champ. And his train must receive applause as well.

Points out this year the Ewan is the fastest and Jakobsen is the strongest. And that it is like chess then gives more credit to the team(s)then himself. Then like was mentioned in the stage 3 thread, it doesn’t matter if you’re the fastest, strongest, or both because that doesn’t mean you will win.

A pity that he won a couple of stages in Tirreno in 2018, otherwise he would have finished his career with four Giro stage wins but no wins on Italian soil ever.

Pretty crazy statistical quirk with Kittel and one that shows how unimaginative most early stages of 'Away' Grand tour starts are. The only comparable quirky stat is the back to back Paris-Nice GC wins from Schachmann in which he never reached Nice.
