He is now a monument winner! This race always suited him, but today he made it!

Mohorič's new class status was truly earned  The way he won MSR wasn't a fluke by any means........
Watch out WvA and MVP ! there is a worthy challenger in the making for the Classics to deal with in the coming years!

Mohoric is becoming a worthy challenger yes. But there are more guys. Asgreen for example has won more of the Flanders classics in recent years than Wout or Mathieu.

In fact it is a bit annoying for me. This whole Van Aert/Van der Poel thing is being treated as if they have dominated the classic scene for years. Boonen and Cancellara like. But in truth Wout and Mathieu haven’t won that many classics yet.

Mohoric‘s story really makes me laugh quite a bit… :) This seat post story is quite funny.

Little bit like VDB, who said to Bartoli in LBL 1999 where he would attack him, and did it just as promised.

Mohoric went to Pogacar in MSR, introduced his seat post, and promised to go full gas in the descent of the Poggio. Mohoric and Pogacar both even laughed about it… :)

Afterwards, Mohoric announces he today destroyed cycling for a second time.

I always thought Mohoric is humourless, but he seems to be a funny guy. :)

Slovenians Rog, Pog, Moho, Polanc and Tratnik all are strong, and are cool personalities..,

That was an incredible descent. He used a "dropper post", a button to adjust the height of his saddle. It's allowed since 2014. Mohoric used it instead of the banned super tuck. He got ideal aerodynamics by dropping his saddle at the start of the descent. It sounds a bit like a James Bond gadget. Probably more riders are going to use it in the future.

From Radsport-News:

„Mohoric had made no secret of the support on the way, as he also said in the press conference: "I drove past all the favorites and sang the James Bond tune to make it exciting. Then I showed them my dropper. They asked: 'Matej, what are you doing there?' I said: I've tested it, it makes a big difference. Don't try to follow me down the Poggio, it's at your own risk."“

Haha, how cool is THAT?! :)

tbh im quite suprised Mohoric is still largely seen as an outsider. He was a super talent in his youth. Made the switch to pro's very early (probably too much), but now at age 27 is ripe for the top. And he already showed so much last year.

Can we stop seeing him as outsider and just count him as one of the top favorites now please?

Did he actually took a firm grip from the seat of Phil Gil, bold move to be a monument king, as this is maybe the most difficult one for many?
