Thanks RR for the clarification on the fact that steroids were indeed both illegal, and banned from MLB. I remembered the Mitchell report pointing this out, even though people keep repeating the contrary.

Canceco came out yesterday blasting McGuire for not admitting all, and really blasting LaRussa for lying about not knowing. Jose is a smug jerk at times, but so far he's been exactly right on everything, down to amazing detail.

A 55 home run guy isn't a Hall of Famer? Wow, tough standards.
Well, Roger Maris still isn't in the Hall. The excuse is that his career was too short (shorter than McGuire). But we all know the real reason.

If he is sorry give up his titles same goes for Alexi Grewel both punks.
Alexi was a snot for sure, but in recent years he has done a lot for homelessness in Colorado, including letting people stay in his house and on his property, so he's off the hook in my eyes.

Foxy is is of course right on Donaghy. He was a cheater and gambling addict, but there's a real ring of truth to many of his claims. Just like Canseco, pretty much everything he's said is slowly being proven true.

he said he didn't do it to improve performance? He said he did it to recover from injury?

OK let me see if I understand. If he is on the injured reserve list he is not performing and therefore not hitting 70 HR's. Correct? stop me if I am wrong...
If he is not on the Injured list and he is hitting then he is preforming correct?
The juise got him off the IR faster though didnt it?
With that logic he thinks the juice did not effect his performance?
oh and I gues he wishes he wasnt born in this era?
dude is so far gone from reality like all these sport dopers. He is as far gone and Landis and Hamilton IMHO

any banned drug enhancing "Performace & Recovery" is !!DOPE!!
McGuire & a lot of those baseball players are as dirty as cyclists!! remains me of that a$$hole named Manny Ramirez and his infamous positive for testosterone & female hormones due to a "wrongful prescription" for "health problems".....
what really bothers me a lot is that I used cheer for that scumbag when he was playing here in Boston for the Red Sox....

The omerta doesn't begin or end inside the peloton or locker room.

The omerta is dead. We all know the truth. It´s all said and done. USA-Sports are FAR behind cycling (they don´t discuss facts like we do in the clinic; they don´t even have something like that). They still keep EVERYTHING under the carpet (including the worst enemy of sports: betting/fixing). Luckily cycling isn´t that big so at least we see true performances...

Otherwise i agree with your post 100%.

And Stern tries to sell Donaghy as the only sour apple. lol. We had all this kind of explanations in cycling 10 years ago.... US-Fans are sooo easy manipulated (outside of cycling), because the media co-orperates with the leagues.

Donaghy in 60 minutes: "It´s no real competition on the field (in the NBA), it´s all entertainment". Translate: It´s all fixed...

I wouldn't say "fixed", but it is not even-handed. Basketball used to be my favorite sport, but I got tired of somebody getting called for a foul if they got within 5 feet of Magic Johnson or Jordan. Along with the inconsistent travelling calls and the multiple no-calls that all of a sudden happen at the end of games.

Baseball is the same way. I started tuning out when a strike was 1' outside of the strike zone for certain pitchers.

i got sick of being told by announcers that the completely average play i had just seen was the most unbelievable performance ever because it was made by a "superstar."

I stopped watching NBA in the mid 90s when Clyde Drexler forced a Jordan Turnover, but Jordan was handed the ball and Chicago went on to win the series... I started doubting Basball when Glavine got a strike every time his change-up missed the zone by 2/3 inches (95-WS), gave it up completley when a player (Roid-Rod) signed a 250 Mio.-Contract (no player is worth that money for touching a ball 5 times a game)... I truly doubt Football since the Officials awarded the Steelers (and Vegas and the Mob) the title vs. the Seahawks (but still enjoyed last nights Saints win)...

Anway, i call it all fixed (even tough Donaghy isn´t allowed to use this word), since Donaghy won 70% of his own bets in games he officiated. And he surely isn´t the only sour apple. He´s only the tip of the iceberg....

After all: Cycling might not be big enough to be bet on heavily (= fixed), so we can still enjoy true performances. In a very strange way, cycling was "saved" by all the doping cases (having no chance to be big business outside of the TdF since it´s bad image).

Pippen almost took the Bulls to the NBA finals, sans Jordan.

Hue Hollins calls foul against Scottie Pippen. The referee Hue Hollins is well known for this considerably bad call against Scottie Pippen on 18th May, 1994 when only 2.1 seconds remained in semifinals of Eastern Conference between Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks in Game 5 which is now known as Hue Hollins calls foul against Scottie Pippen it makes the headlines and become the worst foul call in NBA’s history. The name Hue Hollins became so allied with NBA and the game that if you type Hue Hollins calls foul against Scottie Pippen in the Google’s search bar you will see thousands and thousands of articles and topics related to Hue Hollins calls foul against Scottie Pippen.

It all began in the summer of 1994 May 18th when Bulls and Knicks were face to face in the semifinals of Eastern Conference in the Game 5 and only 2.1 seconds remained on the board, before the game 5 home team had won the first four games against the visitors, but in their 5th game finally they got the chance to win the game in the Madison Square Garden. Bulls were leading by one point with only 2.1 seconds remained and the referee Hue Hollins calls foul against Scottie Pippen as Hubert Davis was encountered after the shot. Hubert Davis made the free throw and Knicks won the 5th game too.
The Chicago Bulls have gotten over, Hue Hollins calls foul against Scottie Pippen, but they by no means acquired liberated.

how is this a foul?
