Lance is on the footpath.

The bus is driving towards him.

Behind him, is Tygart, Weisel and McQuaid and a fat lady. Behind them is a bunch of shadowy figures, politicians, mega brand companies and ex-wives, ex-team mates and ex-employees. Any one of the first 3 men can either try to save him or push him - it remains to be seen whether Lance actually ends up under the bus.

The fat lady ain't singing, but she's warming up her vocal cords.

If Lance is on the footpath, why isn't he allowed to run?

Do you really think the fat lady would even bother to put on her slippers for Lance? If the endgame is Lance, we are back to business as usual. No need for a song.

What's the coverup here? Clearly Armstrong has something so wicked on Hein and Pat that they willingly embarrass themselves, and threaten their standing with the IOC almost daily. My guess is Wiesel is in whatever it is. What could be so awful?
I wonder about that too.

Now, suppose amnesty is declared and Lance gets to keep the 7 TdF titles, does that also mean that Landis is reinstated as the 2006 TdF champ, and no longer has to repay the donations he received?

This whole mess is getting stranger by the day.

No. Any amnesty will come too late for Armstrong or Landis or anyone "convicted" from the past. The decision on Lance has been taken and from what I can see it is irreversible.

Keep in mind, people only get amnesty for telling the truth. Those who do not come forward within the amnesty context are still open for sanctions and more.

Also, we need to remember that the UCI or WADA declaring an "amnesty" may not be sufficient. In many countries doping is illegal. Riders who confess to doping might just find themselves the subject of criminal investigations and court hearings in their home country or wherever they doped.

This statement of 'Amnesty' is exactly like one of Lance's lawyers statements of... well... all of them! Just hollow and posturing.

There is no intent for an actual 'Amnesty'.

The statement is completely designed to:
1) Make people think that everyone was doing it, therefore level playing field.
2) Make people think that the UCI couldn't possibly have done anything about it, because everyone conspired against them.

It is damage control. Nothing more.
Anyone who calls Pat and Hein stupid or crazy, are dead wrong. They know exactly what they are doing. They've been playing the game a very long time. What they do works.
Yes, some of us can see right through it, but the cronies in the IOC (who are just as bad), see that Pat is towing the line. All good.

The only chance we've got is that USADA are in possession of something completely and utterly damning of PAT or Hein. Otherwise, everything will carry on as before.

So now that the amesty is off the table, can we go back to that article and start trumpeting the fact that UCI only have 215 test on record for Armstrong?

It sure looks like the UCI Congress doesn't want Pat or Hein to hide the dirty laundry.

At its annual congress, the UCI adopted a motion calling on the governing body to deal with current doping cases and "ignore attempts to exploit commercially or otherwise the painful aspects of cycling's past."

Perhaps the Congress is also aware of how Pat & Hein's statements don't align with facts such as these.

Just a few days apart we have Pat confirming 215 tests, and then Hein promoting the 500 test lie?

Oh what a tangled web we weave...

All of this gives me hope, however, that the 'Congress' actually has a sense of the truth.

Exactly who were the Congress thinking of when they expressed concern about 'commercial exploitation' through an amnesty?

Pat and Hein?

Dave.
