Then, isn't the PM thing a catch 21? If you get an offensive PM and it is forwarded the forwarder is violating the PM rule. So probably need to ban someone else very soon. Then a super catch 21, where do Joe Papp's PM's come into the picture? No action on his so why should there be an action on these now?

I read the forum... It just happens that being there so many threads I fail to understand what someone implies, sometimes. I generally don't ban people only because I don't understand what they mean, you know.

That said, what I didn't understand is your reference to this supposedly "new sensitivity" to racism (or xenophobia or whatever you may call it) of ours. Did you mean that in the past that was allowed? I don't think so. And btw, if people wanna mock Italians they don't need to wait for the Worlds, there's the Giro in just a few days.

The first two examples are likely not been sanctioned, because the first isn't directed to another user and the second is directed to unknown people. But insulting other members is forbidden and if sometimes posts escapes from our radars it's because we are not everywhere. That said, I'm pretty much sure the greater part of the posts you linked resulted in warnings.

I think not all forms of racism are treated equally. I am guessing if that rant had been related to the colour of someone's skin he would be perma-banned no questions. If it was related to someone having ginger hair probably not.

At work (In the UK at least) if you mimic an Indian accent you are likely to get in trouble but an Irish one would be ok. There are all kinds of variables at play...

This was in response to airstream making "racist" comments in the Sky/Froome thread. Which made me chuckle when reading this:

First of all I haven't seen Airstream's post in that thread. Nonetheless I am talking about the post he got banned for, where he criticised the classics and it was considered trolling by the mods to warrant him a month ban. Yet Galic Ho for his attack on a country gets him a month as well. Now please tell me how on earth these two offenses(airstream's post wasn't even trolling in the first place and I don't how someone can come to that conclusion) are considered to be of the same level to get the exact same length in ban.

Galic Ho has been banned for a month due to racist comments.

Looks to me like a mod did identify his post as racist. Other than quotations what is the difference between a racist and a "racist"? What does someone need to post (in general terms) to be baninated for life in your opinion?

Pedro you were quoted because ebandit did not accurately quote me, which directly led to your response....two wrongs don't make a right. It was me that heavily edited the offending post by galic ho as well as the several by airstream, I identified both sets of comments as racist. However as has been said in the airstream circumstance, and also here by Eshnar, this issue needs to be treated with kid gloves. I chose not to ban airstream (I think correctly), Eshnar quite correctly banned galic ho. Which brings us to the severity of the ban, and gooners question.

Its gooners opinion that airstreams ban is not commensurate with either his offending post or the ban for a racist comment that galic ho received. What gooner has once again failed to recognise is it was not a single post by airstream that resulted in his ban, but an accumulation of trolling posts after warnings. There is no doubt that the galic ho comment was racist. Is galic ho a racist? Eshnar has chosen to give galic ho the benefit of the doubt because the underlying intent is not always clear cut and given a month instead of permanent. However there is also no doubt the slightest infraction by GH on this issue in future will result in an immediate permaban.

As indicated by me comment in the Sky/Froome thread....racists WILL be baninated for life.

Nope. He got banned for the accumulation of trolling, and ignoring several warnings from the mod team.
