I spent a couple of hours nuking a dozen or so sockpuppets and deleting their posts... And most quotes/responces. Probably missed a couple of those.

Since I have tried to ask the mods through reports and PMs (without any answer), I will ask here:

Has serfla been allowed to come back from his perma ban (if so why?), if not, wtf is he still doing here, after he pretty much admitted to be him?

Lol I can see even though you have "retired" you are desperately trying to protect some of your finest work

serfla is harmless imo.
The occasional ott post here and there, but nothing which really burns down the place. Some good points too.

Should have never gotten banned in the first place, as harmless as they get

What about airstream?

Lol, lay your head in rest little Flo, the mean uncle won't bother you anymore

Hi Christian.

1) How many times do you think a poster needs to re-post deleted material before it results to a ban? If you were a mod, and you deleted something I posted, and I then immediately changed it back, would you then delete it again? If I then continued to change it back every time, would you then either not delete it anymore, or ban me?

2) Do you think there is something wrong with noticing the mods when someone is breaking the rules?

If serfla wanted to post again, perhaps there are wiser means than to create 20+ new accounts...

Btw - Sitting Bison - a note of appreciation for your hard work. Good job, and appreciated by at least one member - moi. Although I am sure there are others out there who appreciate that someone at least has a hand on the helm.
Agreed. I certainly have had a run-in with SB now and then (General posting arguments) but as mods go he seems the most active and I personally can argue with few of his mod decisions. It is obvious he spends a fair amount of time trying to keep these boards sane so a thanks from me as well.

All while maintaining a good sense of humor. Which is admirable. :)

Two lessons: (1) When the mods say quit the insults, do it; (2) Don't escalate in response to snide insults. "You can pretend otherwise," but some posters just cannot disagree without a snide insult.

This deserves preservation on stone. TOO true.

Another topic: Airstream. Personally, I strongly doubt that he is "back". I think it is FAR more likely that someone with a similar pov has joined in. 2nd, re Airstream, he was, in regular life, a very young guy, and it showed, imo, in his thinking and his responses. 3rd - Airstream got a lot of VERY undeserved flack because his opinions were not popular with some long term posters. I read a lot of his posts as a mod, and I don't recall him showing malicious intent, nor being intentionally and repeatedly disruptive - or, at least, not more so than slightly.

I am also of the opinion that we should worry less about who comes back than how they behave. If they come back as another identity, but behave themselves - whats the big deal? Let it be.

But here is the thing that finally tripped Airstream up for good - don't mess with the policeman. When the policeman says "behave", you'd best say "yes, sir" and then do so - and not argue about it. That is simple street survival sense. Which some of us do not have. I'm not sayin' don't fight for your rights - but know when - and how - and who to take the fight to.

I have noticed Airstream still logging in to his banned account the past few months. I have seen his name popping up on a few occasions down the bottom of the page on the list of posters logged in.

I think he'd like to come back and misses the discussion of the forum. I had many an interaction with him in PMs and he was harmless. He stuck up for his views but one ban he got in particular was ridiculous when he got the boot for slagging off the classics in the E3 Harelbeke thread. Then when he got another ban, there was no disclosing of the length of his ban and me and Christian I remember put the question out there about this where there was no response. It resulted in him opening a new account to have a go at Netserk for failing to answer it.

Sniper was left back so why can't Airstream? The ban has been long enough as it is.

Leave him post away on his original name. There's other guys who get banned numerously and constantly been left back to do the same nonsense over and over again.

I just looked now, he logged in again yesterday.

Leave him back. Airstream was not the big problem with this forum.

He's back I'm sure of it :)

Edit: but why would he log in on his old account if he has a new one  not sure :D

Living in Perth myself, I can say that it's not always easy just to keep up in the +8 time zone either. SB deserves congrats just for this, because I know I end up posting when most of the days action has already passed.

I'd prefer him to stay away thanks.

Why? I know he has a different opinion to yourself on Contador but a forum shouldn't be one for yes men either. So what if he's a Andy and Froome fan, that's not a crime.

I don't know what to make of this either and whether he's back or not.

I think we should just leave him back for good and post under his old username. It's obvious he wants to come back so why can't we just end the speculation about it. Sniper's permaban was revoked so I see no reason why it can't be done for airstream.

This isn't BPC we are talking about. There are other posters who lie, twist, bait, insult, even harassing a poster has come in lately and get a slap on the wrist where they still come back in the end in the same vain. This lot are the issue on the forum.

Airstream is actually a genuine fan of the sport and from the conversations I had with him in PMs, I don't think he had much in the way of discussing the sport outside of this forum. That's like myself so I think it's understandable he may wish to come back now.

The answer is actually very simple and lies in the first part of the sentence...
Why was Sniper allowed to come back? If you remember that, you have your answer.

That's why I think he is logging in.

I don't think he knows how to get in contact at the moment and which way to go about it.

I have permabanninated tearmeapart for being airstreams sockpuppet.

I appreciate the sentiments of gooner and others, however creating sockpuppets is not the way to go about getting over a ban. Contacting a mod by PM and Daniel on his CN email is the best bet. ;)

cheers

Agree with point on the sockpuppet.

I don't think he can send a PM when he's banned. I would send him the details in how to contact Daniel but I can't PM him at the moment.

are you implying he's stupid? everyone who's been reading the forum for years knows that. We stated that countless times

Good thing sb has his e-mail on his profile. Shouldn't be so hard to figure out how to contact him.

And Dan's e-mail is pretty easy to find.

Of course it's not because he has a different opinion. In my opinion all he wants is to bait Contador fans. And besides that I have some personal problems with him.

I can see problems arise when he's allowed back but then again there are plenty of trolls still out and about.

It's on the mods to decide :)

Do you see anyone argue that Christian should be banned?

Okay, how about this: allow airstream back but make sure he realizes that he's getting a second chance and if he screws up again, he's out. No third chance.

:)
