Maybe his values didn't seem suspicious until Summer 09? Seems unlikely, but hard to think of a reason otherwise.

That is possible, but he gets to keep his Giro and Vuelta results for 2009-2012 but he loses his TdF placings in that time frame. Unless he only doped at the Tour :D:D:D

I remember when Riche Porte smashed Menchov in the 2013 Paris-Nice at La Montagne de Lure. I thought to myself that moment is symbolic of old dirty generation handing over to the new young clean generation where doping is not cool............. even though they had the same doctor

Well I guess this is the final confirmation that Menchov was the former GT winner with a passport case that the 'Secret Pro' was talking about. Confused as to why this wasn't announced earlier.

Seems like the ol suspicion index is validated then. Teflon Popo still racing of course

Can't make any sense of the stripped results. TdF 09, 10, 12 but no Giro/Vuelta 2011 and the Vuelta stage win in 2012?

Knowing what we know about what it takes to trigger suspicion in the bio passport, imagine how crazy the values must have been..

It stinks, no loss of wins but a passport violation which is based on many tests!

Brown envelopes is what springs to mind.

Barredo is in there too. He wasn't allowed to ride by Rabobank and no one knew why. That was a long time ago.

So at that point it was near 100% sure they were banned or going to be banned based on blood passport. But at that time UCI vehemently denied any links to blood passport. So no wonder it is so silent now. Seems like a mistake even, that they appear on that list. I wonder if the UCI is gonna pull the list if they realize it.

So why isn't Popovych suspended? Did he retire yet? Don't remember.

Didn't Popo ride this years Giro!

Popo is so anonymous now they probably didn't care enough to actually ban him.

Barredo's, Hoste's and Menchov's bans are all a bit surreptitious. I think we knew for a while Carlos was under investigation for the biopass. The UCI basically hounded him into retirement rather than just give him a ban and let him come back to race the Volta a Portugal or something... and now it seems they've slapped him with a ban on the way out just because they can.

Totally surreptitious.

Popo didn't retire cos he bought them a blood machine

Well that took a long time...word would have been out since May 2013 when Menchov "retired" a few days after the "secret cyclist" wrote that a former GT winner was about to get popped. Chanced are this would have come out earlier if Menchov hadn't "retired".

So Menchov and Barredo had to do the same thing? Or did they pay more to keep it secret?

So strange, all this.

Nothing strange about UCI and how they manage the sport.:D
