It's a wonder that wikipedia permits cycling entries. If they has any sense they would ban it.

Then they should ban everything from A to Z. Cheating in science, politics, business, by historicans... the entire German team that will win the WC tomorrow is led by Dr Müller-Wohlfahrt who openly praises Actovegin... who treats another all time doper (Bolt)... who makes "miracle healing" on injured players within 3 days.

Get over it, that´s life, full of corruption & cheating... and the UCI is one of the less rotten organisations. At least they do a little bit.

They do a little bit because circumstances force them to. Otherwise, riders would be dying all over the place, and THAT would be bad for business.

Why do NFL and soccer players not die all over the place? Why no track stars or swimmers?...

They (UCI) do it b/c they are forced. It don´t think it´s bad to be forced to improve. The Blatter gang on the other hand can do whatever they want, money is still flying from the sky... Cycling is doing good given the circumstances (that mankind itself is greedy, evil minded, egoistic...)

other sports are not endurance. How many sports compete for 3 weeks for a min of 5 hours a day?

Cycling is the whipping boy of the sporting world. Other sports are very happy that cycling has a bad name.

UCI are not making the right changes to combat doping. That would be bad for business in the short term and that is all business at this level cares about. Who in the sport wants to think about in 10 years time?

Different sports, different drugs. But the amount is the same (if not higher in those non testing heavens)... Painkiller abuse, numbing shots, brutal training shifts (NFL), and even kind of high endurance sport (soccer).

Absolutely. All the hate and dislike aside: LA had hit the nail there with his late interviews.

Why should they (UCI)? Everybody would try to safe business....
Who really fails here is politics (as usual). They should control sports organisations better. It´s a joke we have a pretty lame anti doping law in germany, but get billed if we go over the streets on a red ample.

OTOH, Wada is an improvement for cycling. AFIK Fifa and US sports don´t have to bother about them...

Shame they haven't taken the 2009 Giro.

Giro 2009 GC Classification (SS from wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Giro_d%27Italia):
GX9UKfM.png

Original GC Podium:
1. Menchov
2. Di Luca
3. Pellizotti

If they removed Menchov, the entire original podium would be gone and Carlos Sastre would be the 2009 Giro winner. Sastre would then have two of three grand tours. Sastre also finished in second place in the Vuelta twice (2005 & 2007). Behind who? Menchov.

Leipheimer would be on the podium though...
Maybe they could clean that up along the way.

If that list would be cleared from CAUGHT dopers, it would read :

1) Sastre
2) Arroyo
3) ??? Apparently Jose Serpa

congrats to libertine. but if you see a black van outside... hmmmm :p
get yourself a twitter :) all the media i think didn't mention you as the one who discover it, which is a shame.

so menchov out too.

by the way, the talking about a gc winner going down....there was a different one than menchov at one time on twitter by some cyclo journalists. apparently it was an anglo who disappointed big time one of this journos. most likely hesjdal. but hidden by uci. cadel is still teflon

FIFA are bigger than IOC and therefore bigger than WADA. US sports not international.....

Article 14.2.2 of the WADA code

http://www.wada-ama.org/Documents/W...DP-The-Code/WADA_Anti-Doping_CODE_2009_EN.pdf

Time for the journos to earn their pay

No later than twenty (20) days after it has been determined in a hearing in accordance with Article 8 that an anti-doping rule violation has occurred,

So the questions are

Did the UCI delay longer then 20 after the the hearing? If so why?

Or

Was Menchov able to use legal and political positioning to delay the hearing until recently? If so what did he do?

I doubt the latter is the case, otherwise the same would have been done by Barredo and Santambrogio.

So why you complain too much? It´s better to catch some, even late, than no one ever...
Cycling is better off than many other organisations (that includes all parliaments, councils, and what else world wide).

UCI tell Sporza that sanctions will no longer be communicated via press releases

No abnormalities in 09 Giro values..

http://sporza.be/cm/sporza/wielrennen/140712_Mensjov_schorsing

The bio blood passport was not supposed to be about an anomaly per race, it was about finding doping over a period where through changes in blood values, therefore riders were going to be sanctioned and lose everything over that period. So Menchov did not dope to win the Giro but doped and didn't win the TdF. Yeah right

This sport sure has cleaned up.
