Mental or random cycling statistics

Talking about Fuglsang‘s age made me wonder: What was the (WT) race with the most riders in their 40s. I was pretty amazed recently when I saw there were four riders in their 40s in the 2014 Tour: Jens, Chris Horner, Petacchi and Tosatto.
Fuglsang must have felt like he was as babysitting in the Tour of the Alps as he was older than the combined ages of two of his breakaway companions!

Now for a very silly statistic, and a record that's unlikely to be broken anytime soon:

Mads Pedersen is the cyclists with the highest number of Grand Tour stage wins in Albania.

Likewise, Elia Viviani is the cyclist with the highest number of Grand Tour stage wins in Israel.

Make of this what you will:

If one ranks all the current professional riders by best GC result in a Grand Tour, the bottom six on that list all obtained their best GC result in the 2025 Giro (Kuzmin, Kooij, Van Uden, Zijlaard, Thijssen, Plowright).

That seems rather wild. Of course it's a testament to a high finishing rate of that race and 184 starters, but still.

I have no idea what any of this means but you have too much time man

Upon seeing that he had won the ES/whatever it's called in your country nowadays prediction game, I realised that Moreno Moser's first and last ever victories both came in the Trofeo Laigueglia. Which other riders have taken their first and last pro wins in the same race years apart?

Surely a low finishing rate would make that easier to achieve.

Simon Yates wins the Giro without winning a stage. The last time this happened was when Egan Bernal won the Tour of 2019 without winning a stage.

Has it ever taken this long inbetween riders winning Grand Tours without winning a stage?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I just wanted to add to the Bernal thing and say that he to this date still has never been in the top 3 of a stage in the Tour.

Roger Walkowiak had three wins. The Tour in '56, & stage wins in the Vuelta in (may) '56 & 57.

Every win also from a breakaway...
