SKY are admitting to having problems submitting full teams at the moment for some races

And why has Froome started so late
Froome started in Sun Tour?

I think last year i read a interview from Landa saying he believe that he shouldn´t race much to his kind of body . I don´t know exactly the words but is something like this.

Maybe is doing high training in CR beacuse this year Giro as a Lot of km´s in this especiality and he is really bad. He can loose 2/3 minutes to Nibali and Valverde in a big CR.

We have to wait...

What exactly is Landa recovering from? Sounds weird if it's just a flu.

Landa is nos recovering, Landa is OK already, but the team consider Tirreno is a hard race to start, he need train more, that is all. Now he is training hard in south pain and asimilating well. The objetive is the Giro, even Pais Vasco, but not Tirreno.

Landa was after the fly training 2 days and resting 3 in the couch, he didnt recover very well, maybe he wanted more and it was more phicologycal than phisical, with him that is normal. But after to be sick the body sometimes need time.

Now everything is well and he will be fresh at the Giro.

Cheers!

Thanks for the update. Any news on Benat? I saw that he is also back in training but I guess not quite with the required form to get a result at Tirreno (hence why Sky haven't sent him there)?

I am afraid if every rider had that outlook no one would race most of the time
And most don't have the luxury to train for 2 days and rest for 3 ??..what kind of racer is he ??
Never heard of such a requirement ...most riders including or especially domestiques are out racing in all weather and all times ...
Lets hope his special requirement will yield dividends for his sake

Well, if you are after heath problems maybe you dont recover so well.

Landa is quite especial, for the good and for the bad. if he is feeling phisically without problems, healthy, luck is with him, thing going well, motivated and without pressure, he can do what maybe nobody can do in a race with long climbs.

How will manage the pressure this year it is unknown for me, but he is out of the basque pressure, very good for him, and he is the team with best profesionals for everything, including obviously psicologist.

IMO Landa is going to improve this year in the ITT... he has lot to improve, but I am not sure he improve in the mountains, although he is young and it wouldl be logical to improve a little.

Landa is quite similar to Freire, one in the mountains , other in one day races...that kind of talents that dont need to train a lot but who has the class to make easy the impossible if everything go well.

I dont Know anything about Beñat, sorry.

But that´s what he believes. I don´t remember the exact day but it was last year, and he defend even with the astana coaches that he doesn´t like to do a lot of race days... He said he believe it´s better to him...

But i think Sky has a diferente way of training and riding and maybe he has to change... The truth is that we have riders that race a lot and the oposite.

Maybe i shoudn´t touch the exemple of Lance, but he was a rider that didn´t race much... Valverde for exemple normally race a lot.

Despite other things, Valverde lives in Murcia and Landa lives in Alava, very diferent winters.

I've heard from friends in Navarra that it snowed there recently. Navarra is further south than País Vasco, so I imagine it's even colder there. Is this normal for late-Feb/early March weather is northern Spain?

Pais Vasco and Navarra are the same north, at least Alava, it depens the place. Pyrynees in Navarra are colder than any place in pais vasco, but Tudela in Navarra has warm weather. The same northen Navarra rain a lot, as in GB, Ireland,... south Navarra is semi desertic. And the same in northen Navarra people talk in basque, in the south has never been talked.

Murguia, where Landa lives, is warmer than my village in Burgos and today we have no snow here, but we have 2 days before and it we will have again this weekend. But Murguia is wet and cold anyway, and of course nsnowed recently, but now Landa is in the mediterranean coast.

He's actually training on his bolide twice a week from what I read plus there was that track testing he did.

Gosh that much ? He sounds like a very delicate flower . Are you sure he is a Basque rider :D
Phase one of Sky’s time trial work with Landa was in December when he spent six hours at the velodrome on Mallorca, where the British team have their training camps, working on his ideal position. Since then, Deia claims, the Basque has been regularly training with his TT bike twice a week.

Coppi Bartalli debut, first stage race title for him?

That's only according to the race organiser. I fear he has mono like Intxausti. They have been training together in the early season I believe.

If that's the case then it's bad news for Landa, great news for Froome and horrible news for his tour rivals as they both would surely make Sky's tour team.
