Landa is in a very good shape, but Tour is not the best race for him, and he is just working. But the main problem is the weather, he is not at his best with hot weather. Anyway he is so good rider than he is top ten righ now, so I think he should change his mind about to fight for GC in the Tour in the future. But for that it must be like this year... a low ampunt of ITT Km, and the first mountains stage early in the race and not vet hot.

Where is he working?

He's just staying in the train and by time Froome goes he not even takes one pull, drops and races for himself.

I guess he's been told to stay up in GC at least a bit, and it seems he is prepared to work since he waited for Froome along with Nieve so he's not going rogue or anything. Hopefully we'll see him a bit more active to help Froome in the 2nd half of this race since admittedly he has been the most irrelevant team mate so far.

Staying in the train is not the same that to be out of the front or to have people helping you as most of the leaders. But yes, I admit he has not really worked so far..and he will do the same if it is enough with Kiato, Henao, Nieve,...and he will try to get an stage...but of course if it is necessary he will be the first to help Froome and to save his Tour.

He can blow up the race( it the Team want). Today apparently went effortlessly. Astana is weak and tomorrow ....

Re:

Looked spectacular comfortable today and gave Flashbacks back to 2015. This man can alone rip up the race if given enough room (or simply go full Landa).Boring race but it has opened up a quite the lot intresting options now.

Is it just me or did Landa go full on "Skybot" today not showing any emotions whatsoever when riding.

We saw a different Landa at the Giro. Actually riding with joy and eager to ahcieve something not an emtionless robot pushing 6.3w/kg like so many Skybots before him.

Is there any doubt that Landa should be in another team next year?

Movistar should open the wallet to adquire him ASAP - heck, even Bahrain should bid on his contract

He can't waste his time being officially the 3rd or 4th rider with most negotiating power in his team
He's 27, it's time to say goodbay to Portal before becoming portalized even psychologically

From what I gather he seems like an intelligent bloke who knows his own mind, so I doubt he'll put up with any nonsense.

He is the antihero of cycling. There is both light and dark in him.

Will he be the hero or the villain?

But to be able to rip up the race, he needs his team to ship the maillot jaune so that he isn't just spent in the train and can be "the guy up the road" or "the opening salvo attack" and used in a different way that allows him to be part of the plan to get the jersey back without just being a mindless slave to Froome. So today's outcome was just about perfect for him, on the road at least.

Off it, that might be different.

I doubt Brailsford likes Froome that much ... so you never know.
