At best he's currently 5th in the pecking order behind Vingegaard, Pogacar, Hindley and Mas (some might add Carapaz). But things change, bad luck can happen, as Landa very well knows.
I would argue Gaudu could be up there, but he hasn’t been in great form. Regardless, Landa is going to need some serious luck to get 3rd in the Tour.

I don't understand. The team said yesterday they going all in with him and that's he's in great shape, and today he lost 3mins. He's so bad

I never really believe Landa's hype, ever. A beautiful climber on his day, unreliable for winning races most of the times. Not the first of the last of that kind, just one of many. And I like him anyway, and nothing can frustrate me anymore about him.

If Landa was anywhere near top form, he would've been in the second groups over pike and Jaizkibel but instead he was 4-5 groups back. After Dauphine he was quite negative about his build as if he knew he would be rubbish. Something's gone wrong for his TDF prep, he is clearly far from his Spring form which would put him with Yates, Hindley and Rodriguez today.

Yeah, with his spring form, he would be around Hindley's position in the rankings. But even when Landa is not in form, he will be able to finish between 5-10 at the standings :tearsofjoy:

It’s time he becomes a stage hunter in GTs
No, his last GC attempt was a podium. He is clearly not on top form which would be enough to be close to a podium. In this race however, Bahrain should be focusing on breaks clearly. Maybe they could get lucky Ben O'Connor 2021 style later in the race if Landa improves his form.

Landa’s last GC attempt resulted in a podium ….. behind Jai Hindley.

Even on top form I doubt Landa could beat Hindley in this race. Hindley is looking good so far and did a great job minimising losses after being dropped by the heads of state.

Landa's TT never helped much as well. Losing the yellow takes the pressure off Hindley and his team for the moment.

Landa is a great talent, but he almost never seems to arrive at a Grand Tour in shape. Maybe he doesn't have the motivation/determination anymore.
