Just had to make a topic after reading the Chrono des Nations result:

18 year old and beating Castroviejo, Campenaerts, Mullen and Chavanel in a 50km ITT is impressive, even if some lesser known 32yo Danish guy won.

Where is the limit of this guy? Future ITT world champ? Or one of the early potential limit Nords?

Looking back at his results- he has a few wins and top 10s at junior level and won the U23 Worlds TT. A surprise to be sure, but to be honest I doubt the seasoned pros will be at anywhere close to top condition for this event. One to keep an eye on though.

Bjerg just did 52.311 km/h a few days ago. Also a new danish record for the hour.

It's one thing to be hyped at young age, it's another thing to ride the hour and do so well.

Definitely an early potential guy, but still really, really good. He'll probably hit his peak at 21-23 but that will probably be in the top 5 time triallists in the world.

There were several guys who were really good this early in their careers but eventually didn't have a particularly successful pro career (some didn't even have them at all).

We will see how it goes with Bjerg. Doesn't help that he is from country from which riders regularly have very good results in u-23 races but that doesn't translate for success at WT level for whatever reason. Nonetheless, I hope he does well in the future.

I imagine the other U23 riders breathed a collective sigh of relief when they learned he was gonna do the elite race. (Even if it meant foregoing a chance to race in the rainbows.)

Talking about 18 year olds and speculating about becoming ATGs at this or that is so dumb it's not even funny. Especially in cycling. He's incredible for an 18 year old. Let's see if he can be a bit better at 19 first.

Well done by Bjerg, who finally delivers what he and others expected him to be able to achieve one day. UAE's new ITT set up seems to be very good, and JV should be a little scared after today.

Cavagna is not mentioned in the OP but he can‘t beat Chavanel in a pro race nowadays.

If only there was early 30 km ITT in this Tour then we would be chilling.

There isn't though, so I don't think the setups will matter this much, especially since its a mountanious TT

They should of course not be scared because of the ITT set-up alone, but also due to the fact that Pogačar has allegedly been smacking Bjerg's behind in training.

He didn't dominate in the juniors. In fact, apart from the national championships, he didn't win a single time trial. Got his ass handed to him by a certain Brandon McNulty.

He was mainly dominant in the U23 WCC TT's. Even regular TT's, nationals or euros in the U23 he didn't win many of them.
