I think there are potentially "sprinters" that could still win. This is an early season race where weather can be a bit of a leveller and the hilly classics specialists are still going to be peaking a few weeks later. Freire, Petacchi and Zabel would have been contenders on this course.

Wrong for 1979. They were 15 classified in the same time. I saw footage of it and Knetemann 15th was clearly dropped for a couple of seconds. The rest was 20" behind.

I was kinda looking forward to seeing what the racing would be like with the extra climb. If it would give us more action, if a climber/attacker could use the extra climb to break everything up, etc. But I suppose this is probably for the best as it will keep a balance between attackers and sprinters.

I'll still be cheering for the attackers to deliver though.
