I can understand the mods having to do a lot, but then I think there really need to be more mods, especially since I have no idea whether Pricey and Eshnar are actually active behind the scenes, if they even still look at the forum on a regular basis. But I guess that requires action of the admins?

Remember you can report, posts, threds and users for spam.
I'm definitely reporting all the spam (that's actually the only thing I ever report) in the Cafe, but no action has been taken. I just think spam allowing to run free like this makes a forum look bad to visitors, why would anyone want to join a forum that is plastered with so much garbage?

So, I reported stuff from the Café and the games section now. I'm not going to report each of the silly spam threads in the mtb section, everyone can see them immediately. Since there is no reaction from one of the current mods or an admin to the problem I wonder, is there anything going on behind the scenes that I'm not aware of?
I'm wondering as well... there has already been an exodus since CN started charging for reading articles. I'm sure if the spam isn't taken care of even more posters will leave. Maybe once the bots start posting links to porn some action will be taken?

Well I think it's great that Tom Hanks is trying to reduce the number of overweight women in the world by getting them to ride bikes. Isn't that guy simply amazing?
I realize there's only a handful of us women posting on this forum and I can't speak for them, but personally I find that specific posting offensive and borderline sexist. I mean, it's not like I don't see a whole bunch of fatso men waddling around, why doesn't Tom Hanks bot suggest cycling to them as well?

Let's hope some other celebrity bot enters the forum to fight for men's health!

There should be auto moderation for these spam stuff. They are easily recognizable. A bot can only be countered by another bot

Honestly it's a lot, but it's not too much for a few human mods to handle. There just doesn't seem to be any interest anymore from the moderators or the admins to take it out in any other than the road race section. There's spam from July not taken down. So, nothing against an anti-spam bot, but the real question is why this is the new policy and what is happening with the forum that we don't get told.

Looking at the mod/admin list Netserk shared on the other page, Rick and Eshnar are the only mods recently logged in. So it looked like it’s them against the world, plus still trying to enjoy and lost as fans. Maybe if there was a system that we could vote to remove things for spam and it gets removed with a mod being able to bring it back after review.

It seems like we're writing to nobody. I'm actually a little afraid that the forum will suddenly just shut down without warning at some point.

I hope you are not right but I fear you could be. The history of the forum shows more and more advertising. On the main site advertisements have blown out of control. The forum rules state this...
Spam or encourage spam. Commercial spam is handled with a zero tolerance policy. No posting links to any commercial service or product if you are personally affiliated. Official representatives may be present, but will be expressly indicated from their profile. Do not post /comment to advertise or promote.
