First, I know enough of who RR is through many posts, PM's and e-mail exchanges that I know where he stands, and he understands what is asked of him by admins and mods. They mostly involve remaining tactful when disagreeing with other members, and backing up any claims with link. As he pointed out, when you don't like what he posts, or links he supplies, you frequently go after him, you don't offer logical counter arguments, or valid links to claims that run counter to his. This isn't the mark of anyone capable of being a mod or admin.

When he makes a claim out of the blue without substantiation, what grounds am I suppose argue on during discussion? If he says an ex-postal teammate said they were asked to dope or forget making the team.....how can you logically argue against that point? I've tried to google some of his claims and guess what comes up as the only previously referenced sources...his post on this forum is all that exists (google is surprising fast these days). So you are only left with that conclusion that he is either telling the truth or lying to make an impression. Who knows?

It's not about liking what he (or others) are saying. It's wanting to participate in the discussion to formulate my own opinion on these matters. I can assure you that I am not alone in this. The more crap that gets shoveled under the auspices of fact without substantiation, the less I tend to believe it.

So then, are you seriously suggestion that you have gotten to know him (and others like him) off forum and are basically vouching for their credibility in the absence of substantiation? I've been here since he has been posting as Eva Maria, and all I have seen him post about himself is stuff like former triathlete/cyclocross/financial something in Germany. Nothing of which should logically point to knowing up-to-date goings on in the Grand Jury room.

GRRRRRR ANGRY SCRIBE

I liked you better when you were funny troll Scribe, this serious side not so much.

I have a pretty good record of posting the right stuff. Feel free to rub my nose in it, give me a noggie, or call me a fool when I get one wrong. So far my track record is pretty good.

What is the use if the only thing that is posted are articles from the same websites over and over?

I have received the same.

May people prefer that certain posters are not quoted as it is a way to get around the ignore list. You will see that I accurately conveyed your feelings as well as combined and responded to multiple posts in one.

I should be commended for my conservation of valuable message board real estate.

again, you missed the issue entirely, scibe.

wtf does your difference of opinions (and how they are sourced) with rr have to do with the mods ? this thread is about mods !

why do you expect barrus and other mods to moderate rr if you guys have a civil discourse which is no more than a difference of opinions ?

your options - take it, leave it, or refute it.

but you can't leave it, you can't take it you can't refute it.

that means the problem is you, not the mods, not rr.

Just what is it that you're trying to accomplish by doing this? Both by pushing the boundaries of what constitutes rule breaking, rudeness or incivility on a cycling message board that anyone, including children, can read? If I presume it's to share adult laughter, or be admired for your humor, is it so important to you that such a thing be in the open here? Why?

First, I know enough of who RR is through many posts, PM's and e-mail exchanges that I know where he stands, and he understands what is asked of him by admins and mods. They mostly involve remaining tactful when disagreeing with other members, and backing up any claims with link. As he pointed out, when you don't like what he posts, or links he supplies, you frequently go after him, you don't offer logical counter arguments, or valid links to claims that run counter to his. This isn't the mark of anyone capable of being a mod or admin.

Why here?

Alpe. Correct me if I am wrong. But is this thread not entitled "moderators"? And is it not in a sub forum entitled "About the forum"? And am I not therefore, entitled to discuss the details of why I may have an issue with a decision taken by said moderators in this thread? I am sorry that if any of the details of what I have discussed has caused you offence, or could be deemed to be pushing the boundaries of rudeness or incivility. How exactly has the way I have discussed any of those things done that? And whose boundaries are these? Yours? Do you talk for everyone? Where am I supposed to discuss it if not here? By PM? I have to keep some room in my inbox for hate mail you know:D

In case, as it could appear, you haven't read further back in this thread, I am not questioning my ban. My issue is with consistency. As you have painted yourself as the protector of our children on this forum, I will repeat the following question that I have asked Barrus (albeit fleshed out slightly in light of your post); Is it ok to post links to pornographic descriptions? Is it ok for our children to read "jokes" pertaining to someone losing their homosexual virginity in a non consensual manner? And I ask this genuinely Alpe.

I won't go further and ask if our children should even be encouraged to read any of the issues included in the clinic full stop. But in light of your concern for them it has a certain saliency. Maybe the clinic needs to be R17 rated;)

I notice that the thread that led to my ban, still retains the reference to lawyer's endowments. But if I mention it here, you appear to wish to censure me further.

Lastly, Alpe, if you do find the time to answer this, I would appreciate you considering a couple of further points; You told me when you issued my infraction that I had "attempted to sucker" people into following my link. You further stated in a thread concerning my ban that I had attached an "insult". The question is how? On both counts.

Honestly, the reason I may seem to have an issue with you on this point, is that had you merely banned me for posting porn and said "sorry, unaacceptable, common sense etc etc two month ban", well, I might have grumbled and thought you were slightly lacking in a sense of humour but I certainly wouldn't have had much to wha wha whine about. It is the fact that, as far as I can see, you felt you needed to "dress" up my crime, to spin it's severity, that makes me suspicious of your motivations.

Peace

That's an important point. Those of us not in the know like hearing "knowledge" that may be based partly in speculation when the claimed facts turn out to be accurate. It's another matter entirely when people drop inside "knowledge" of impending events that just... don't... happen. Ever. Sure, RR gets a lot of slack but as he says his track record is strong. No doubt there will be some jubilant fanboys making a noose out of that slack line if he gets a big one wrong.

His track record isn't that strong as most of it isn't so much about what will happen, but what he says did happen. aka, It just hangs out there without subtantiation. BPC had a habit of doing this (probably out of spite), which was one component that led to his demise. Before you get the wrong impression, that's a good thing as it is irritating to hear anyone's bent fantasy.

Listen, I happen to think RR is utterly full of it, but this thread is for slagging the mods....so can we at least keep it on track:D

If you, or I for that matter, wish to take issue with anything RR or anyone else posts, we should do it in the appropriate thread.

With that in mind, I have heard from a "reliable" source that Alpe has a mullet and campaigned for his local tea party candidate, and that 180mmcranks once fitted a small motor on the end of his oar when he was rowing 8's. You wait and see. I am right I tell you!:D

You seem to have this idea that I invent a bunch of BS. Please give an example

Was it when I wrote that Landis was telling friends the truth and was ****ed?
How about when I wrote that Trek had now case with LeMond and would settle?
Maybe it was when I wrote that Rock was a target of the Feds?
etc. etc. etc.

The groupies like to say I am "Full of it".....but that is based more on their desire to keep the myth alive then me posting something wrong.

RR...lol....please don't tempt me here. In relevant threads I will be more than happy to show you up for the charlatan you are:D

This thread isn't about you, me, or Scribe....so let's keep it on thread. Just complaints about the mods....otherwise, er....well I will have to complain to a mod rather than about one.

So far it has been nothing more then ad hominem. I have asked but nobody is willing to give an example of an actual post but instead just attack the poster.

As I just said RR....in the relevant threads i will be more than happy to indulge your masochistic need to be unveiled as "full of it"....I promise I will take the time to check through your past posts that previously I just ignored and laughed off as the ramblings of a fantasist... and I promise I will draw your attention to them, but this isn't the place....so unless you have something bad to say about a mod....I hate to say this, but stop trolling:rolleyes:

i'd argue he should have faced the consequence almost as soon as he came back - several ad hominems just in this thread alone, multiple attempts to drag threads oftopic elsewhere..

.

Alpe, are you really going to take me to task for saying that in the above post it could be perceived that you were painting yourself as the protector of our children? Am I not allowed to use hyperbole or sarcasm in my posts if they involve you?

And you are going to let the mullet thing go completely over your head?;)

Seriously, I really didn't mean any offence. So if some has been taken, i apologise. But, in my opinion, including the above statement in your post does leave it open to being addressed.

Sorry Python....please refer me to the "multiple" examples of me trying to drag other threads off topic?

Alpe. Something tells me this might be my last post for a while....lol....so let me just say this:

This is somewhat of an understatement, but you and I seem to have got off on the wrong foot. :D

I suggest upon my return, unless of course my second offence leads to a lifer, we start a new thread entitled, "Alpe and Straydog sitting in a tree", where we are only allowed to say nice stuff about one another, and look for the common ground that might exist between us. Maybe we both like the colour mauve? Or black and white films in Japanese? Or the smell of fresh cut grass? In all other threads, you are of course free to keep smacking my nose for snapping.;)

Do I think that some inconsistency and bias appears to be shown by some moderators? Honestly, yes. Does it unduly bother me? Not really. But I have a natural bent to challenge anything I see as hypocrisy, where ever I happen to see it. Does that mean you and I can never discuss anything cycling related without coming to verbal blows? Well, I suppose that partly depends on the length of my impending ban....lol....but I hope not.

No offence was meant really.

Peace and see you all around....maybe:D
