Well, that's exactly what Dr Mas tried to do originally in the OPQS thread. I'm not sure how many of you were present and accounted for yesterday evening when this was going down, but I was, and I was able to read the original exchange.

Berzin told everyone to desist from the line of argument that was developing.

Dr Mas then pointed out that he was merely (as he does) responding directly to a point that another poster raised. That was the post that was deleted, and that was what brought Dr Mas to the mod thread.

If anything, Dr Mas was behaving quite rationally in the OPQS thread, albeit being Dr Mas.

Put it another way. Dan was probably getting off a plane after writing four stories nonstop, no sleep and had to find a way from airport to hotel without any local currency. He then gets Mas's post about Berzin.

He probably took one look at it and thought "this is bullsh1t", "ban him".

Maybe I didn't get to know him well enough, cause I thought he was super annoying. He had the tendency of getting involved in matters where he was absolutely not needed. On many occasions I saw him meddling in other people's arguments trying to be some sort of omniscient judge.

All things considered I thought he was a jerk and a megalomaniac, but his permanent ban is an even bigger joke. Even I didn't get that in my best days and at the time nobody thought I was a "considerate an thoughtful" poster or a valuable contributor to this forum.

"Swallow the injustice" seems to be the main rule of thumb here if you mean to stay around for a long time.

The mods shouldnt be above criticism. They are after all posters like the rest of us, only that they have been given special powers the rest of the forum doesnt have.

The problem is when the mods start using those powers when it really isnt needed. (like for instance, your bans)

The mods main objective should be to keep the forum clean from spam and abuse. Once that is taken care of, let the posters deal with the rest themselves. If it gets out of hand, they can step in.

But there is no need to ban people for months, or even permanent for something as silly as this.

This constant overmoderation does no good for anyone, and I think if the people arent happy with the mods, they are well within their rights to ask for them to either change, or be replaced.

Now it looks like Dr Mas is lost forever, and other good posters like BroDeal might have gotten fed up and left too.

This is what is known as vortexing, and yes it is super annoying.

But aside from that, Dr Mas knows what he is talking about when it comes to cycling and doping.

If he tuned down the vortex to minimum RPM and focused on his own postings he would be one my favourite posters.

Perhaps you can tell us the rest that went on and we don't know? If the motives of the ban are those reported and discussed in this thread then it seems a bit obvious who was it that handed the ban to Dr. Maserati. Seems.

IIRC, Amsterhammer did exactly that with PalmerQ (repeatedly) and didn't get banned for it. So that's not entirely true.
