As to "why only now?": it likely never go the attention of the mods. There is no time limit on when something gets deleted or removed. It gets found when it gets found. And it was likely pointed out as a validation for someone objecting to the censorship of a "Hitler" conversation. See also: "Godwin's Law".

It was indeed just recently brought to our attention via a PM by another user. The decision to delete was a decision by the higher ups that it was not appropriate for the forum.

Personally I don't think the loss of those posts and such a conversation will hurt anything.

Unbelievable. And may we know who are these higher ups? To the last part, there are tons of posts and conversations around, which, if deleted, will not hurt anything or not. You should delete those too. In fact, I suggest you mods to give the PPR section more attention. I'd like to read through race threads withouth having to see insults and profanity and swearing towards riders.

Ironically, God only murdered +11 million people (other deaths derived from WW2 excluded) if you believe what a certain book says. So no, I don't think it's comparable.

Also, you have to laugh at the claims that this was an innocent question and in no way anti-semitic or nazi when it used Mein Kampf as a source.

"Historical revisionism" is perfectly fine if done in accordance with academic principles. That's how for example the number of Jewish victims at Auschwitz has been revised throughout the years and is now considered to be much lower than originally thought (still horrifyingly high, mind you). Holocaust denial never does that.
