Basically this thread was started by LaFlorecita so that she would have a single place for Contador love. But you can put Contador hate here, too (at the risk of her wrath!), or something in the middle. If in doubt about whether it should go here, ask LaFlorecita, she'll know.

Post comments within forum rules and you'll have nothing to worry about.

When people then continued asking what they could post in the thread, I said if in doubt ask LaFlorecita. I said this in order to indicate that she has our support, just as you have our support when somebody tries to troll you. The polite efforts of LaFlorecita and others to keep order in the thread have not gone unnoticed, and the trolling hasn't gone unnoticed, either.

I have been following and joining the discussion and I haven't really seen anyone troll the thread, we mainly discussed Froome v Contador. If anyone trolled anybody, it would be some of the fanatic fanboys in that same thread. Maybe trolling is a bad wording, its rather all hell loose and I don't think the 'opposing' debaters should take responsible for that. The thread is as much the Contador-fans as it is a thread for anyone else wanting to discuss Contador, but I think the moderators and the forum in general fails to realise that sometimes

Anyone care to explain?

It might have seemed to you like "all hell loose", rather than one side trolling the other, but it doesn't really matter which view is correct because, A) either way that's not how threads are supposed to work, and B) I'm the one who has to fix it, not you. Be responsible for your own posts and report any problems you encounter. That's all you need do.

either way, somebody who tries to shut down discussion like tonton has done on various occasions (not just lemond thread) should probably not be a mod...of a discussion forum.
just my two cents.
in the end it's all a matter of taste, and tonton will do a fine job no doubt.

For what it's worth, my interactions with him have always been fine. He has strong opinions because he is old school European cycling. Strong opinions often come across as "trying to shut you down" but usually if you come back with a well reasoned reply based on knowledge, you find, as I have with Ton-Ton, a receptive ear and engaging conversation. I think he's a strong addition to the mod team.

I came across the last exchanges. I will say for the record that I don't take my new responsibilities lightly. Thank you sniper for recognizing that. Today, I'm going through all the threads in the mods folders to educate myself. When I do something, I try my best to be good at it. This is no exception. I see my new role as a way to give back to a website that has re-ignited my passion for cycling. Or rather, brought my passion to another level.

I truly enjoy the educated takes, I learn a great deal, and I don't mind heated debates as long as we all remain respectful. I think that I emphasize the latter point very often. Where there are fans, where there's passion, we can't all agree: but we shouldn't turn into hooligans either. I spent two years reading posts, not willing to become a member because of the Lance-era toxicity that spread through the forums. I didn't want to start posting my views and get bludgeoned. Not right...

It is true that at times (but not often), I found myself participating in trench warfare (when two camps fight over an issue, not willing to engage in a real conversation). By accepting to be a mod, I am aware that it entails staying away from controversy. But also ensuring that we can have troll-free discussions, that we can agree to disagree, as long as we do so respectfully.

I will do my utmost to be fair, consistent, and I embrace the feed-back that you all give me. Good or bad. It's called "accountability". Nothing wrong with that.

Excellent post, and thanks for taking the thankless job

I've never had any problems with any mods during my years in this forum, maybe the only one was why it took so long to ban airstream
